Timothy "Tim" Westcott is a metahuman teenager who was obsessed with fixing the morals and values of Smallville, as he felt that Smallville lost those principles during the meteor shower. This philosophy was thought of by his father, a man who deemed that the meteor shower had brought chaos to the town, all of which drove Tim to try and eradicate everyone who committed "wrongdoings" around the town.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Sand Mimicry: Tim has the ability to dissolve his body, including the clothing he is wearing, into sand. He can even disaggregate into a cloud of sand, and he can move in his sand form at will, allowing him to get through keyholes and other small apertures. He choked Clark with the Kryptonite granules in the sand.
- Super strength: He can also perform feats of superhuman strength, by transforming his body parts into sand fixtures. He was able to knock Clark Kent across a room with his strength.
Early life[]
Tim was a student at Smallville High School who occasionally submitted op-ed articles for the Torch newspaper, and was interested in the ideological perfection of Smallville. According to Tim's father, ever since the meteor shower, everything in Smallville went wrong, that it brought an evil to the town. After his father died, his obsession with perfection and morality had twisted his mind, even when he found out he can become a "sandman".
Season Four[]
He was responsible for attacking Lana Lang and Jason Teague, because they seemed to not care about his own perspectives on right and wrong. Lois Lane found out he was Lana and Jason's assailant. He also framed his fellow metahuman Alicia Baker, who was publicly known as a teleporter. While looking for more evidence to incriminate Alicia at her house, she returned home and ran into him, and he ended up murdering her and left her hanging from a noose.
Lois told Clark about Tim, and when he arrived to find Alicia already dead, and fought Tim in a grief-stricken rage. Tim dissolved into a sand cloud and tried to suffocate Clark, but Clark was able to use his heat vision to burn and subdue Tim back into human form. Clark then easily overpowered the agonized Tim and furiously tried to strangle him. Lois arrived in time and managed to calm Clark down and prevent him from killing Tim. Tim's fate afterwards is left unrevealed, but it is presumed that he has been left to the authorities.
Notes[]
- It is possible that Tim Westcott was later released by Checkmate (before the agency's destruction). In the episode Absolute Justice, Part 2, a conversation between Lois Lane and Clark Kent establishes that Checkmate has been secretly releasing all the bad guys (that fought the members of the Justice Society of America), and collecting them, by 2010.[1] In Charade, Checkmate is shown to have arranged for the life sentence of Ray Sacks (who had been put away by Clark and the Wonder Twins) to be overturned. One scene has Chloe Sullivan show Clark a list of other people, whose release has been arranged by Checkmate. Clark identifies the people on the list (which is not shown to the viewers) as people that he put away.[2] In Shield, Bette Sans Souci (who had been put away in 2009 by Clark Kent and Green Arrow) is shown to have been released from her incarceration, and joined the Suicide Squad.[3] In the episode Homecoming, Clark spots Greg Arkin (one of Clark's earliest foes) at their high school reunion, and identifies Greg as one of the people that he put away in high school (with Clark's panic at the sight of him indicating that Greg would have been unlikely to simply been released, having served whatever sentence he was given).[4] In Prophecy, Vordigan (who had been put in prison, through the combined effort of Clark and Green Arrow)[5] is shown to be out of prison.[6]
Trivia[]
- According to the High School Yearbook, Tim was most likely to "Become Mayor of Smallville".[7]
