Name of Device[]

Do we know the name of this device for sure? --Kanamekun 20:33, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

This is that purple sphere thingie, right? I think we're gonna get a name for it this week, or at least hear what they're calling it onscreen. This page'll have to be moved/deleted anyway to fix the capitalization. Marikology 03:48, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Disappointing?[]

Wasn't anyone else disappointed by what this thing actually did? Besides tearing down the fortress (which wasn't THAT much of a big deal for the series, really) all it did was remove Clark's powers, and this only lasted one episode. We've seen him powerless before, and even for longer. The way they were talking about the orb, I'd have thought it did something more unusual. IndridCold 13:29, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Orb in season 8[]

After Tess recovered the orb, she began to follow the instructions of a voice coming from the Orb. Do you think is Jor-El?, or should it be another kryptonian. Perhaps Zod?, what do you think?. GreenLantern1138

What does it do?[]

Okay, I'm still fuzzy on a few points. Jor El said that he programmed the fortress to self destruct and remove Clark's powers if he became a danger to the planet. Lex was told that the orb would control Clark, making him a danger to the planet. Therefore, wasn't it Jor El who removed Clark's powers and not the Orb? If so, shouldn't the whole part about the orb stripping Clark of his powers be deleted because it's false? Seriously people, the article is contradictory.

Maybe we could add all the quotes about the Orb to the page... then we could as a team identify which statements were accurate or not. --Kanamekun 05:02, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
We do know that Smallville is not really careful about continuity and contradictions. However, if we want to find sense to that, I would say: Jor El programmed the fortress to self destruct and remove Clark's powers when the Orb was used on it. We later learned that Jor El constructed the Orb too, so the Orb acted as a key to remove Clark's powers when used on the Fortress. Jor El left the decision to do that to men, who were the only ones that could approach the Orb, as it was dangerous to Kryptonians. The only unclear thing left there would be the "controlling Clark". But removing his powers is actually a way of controlling him, not his powers but himself.--Sega381 00:47, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

Altered Coloration[]

Okay, I put down on the page that the orb has altered appearance between Season 7 and 8. It changed from being purplish-black to a weird blue. But somebody decided to delete this note. What for? It's a valid statement.

That's a great point! Maybe post pictures of both orbs, so people can see for themselves? --Kanamekun 05:02, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Orb's Symbol[]

What I don't get is the symbol on the orb, didn't the guy tell lex that it was the signature of a german watchmaker? Is that watchmaker important? is it a coincidence that his signature is the same that the one jor el decided to use on the orb? I mean, If the orb was created by jor el why does it have that signature and not the "s" that's the symbol of the house of el?, and why is that symbol in the luthor's mansion in the first episode of the ninth season?

I know that not all the questions can be answered, simply because this is fictional, but the writers should check this kind of things, this confusion could be avoided just by not mentioning the "signature" in the first place, cause by mentioning it, they are saying that a human being signed something made by aliens.
Yes, that seems to be a contradiction. They should explain this kind of things. We should put a note on the article about this contradiction.--Sega381 00:47, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

How to Destroy the Kandorian army[]

I wonder if destroying the orb will destroy the clones that came out of it?

After the blue crystal was destroyed, Lara and Zor-El were destroyed... so maybe something similar will happen here. --Kanamekun 20:21, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

It seems plausible, though this is just speculation. But the Orb has not been seen since the clones were released...--Sega381 00:47, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

Doomsday and the Kandorian army[]

Something that I never understood is why the Orb told to Tess that Kal-El needed fulfill his destiny and kill Doomsday. It makes no sense, since as we have seen, Zod is a younger version of the General and has no idea about what has happened to them, and therefore, has no idea about what or who is Doomsday. So, what was the role of Doomsday in the release of the clones? As the writers have given considerable emphasis to this part in the season 8, at least could explain it better, not? Name Change?[]

Does anyone have a source for the name change? If not, we'll have to revert back... --Kanamekun 16:25, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

The device was simply called "Orb" in the series, never was mentioned any "Orb of Kandor"(by the way, Orb of Kandor? WTF??). The quote at the top of the page clearly proves what I'm saying. But I can put more quotes if needed. --RoR-El 16:25, March 15, 2011 (UTC)

Orb Capacity[]

Has it ever been stated in any epi' how many people (as in their DNA) were stored in the orb or if the orb had a maximum capacity ? 80.254.146.140 11:52, September 6, 2011 (UTC)
