Faked pregnancy[]
In this interview, series creator Al Gough states that Lex did in fact orchestrate Lana's "pregnancy." Up until now, I have been meticulous in changing wording to reflect the ambiguity that we've been given, but the question is, do we wait for them to explain it on the show, or just take his word for it (since, afterall, he's the creator.) Re: Faked Pregnancy[]
In the absence of any official guidelines around what constitutes official news, I say we should take the interview at face value and assume that the pregnancy was faked by Lex. And btw, I love the point that this is why Lex becomes evil - because he can't get love from Lionel or Lana without manipulating them. --Kanamekun 14:09, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm on board with that, but it just doesn't make any sense! In Static, Lex had NO audience and expressed genuine surprise and delight when he found out Lana was pregnant. I have a theory that it was originally Lionel, but then they changed their minds and decided they weren't quite ready for him to be "bad" again... I guess we could wait till Lionel makes an appearance. Marikology 02:35, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ah good point. Although the article for Static says that when he heard Lana's confession, "Lex's expression is unreadable at the news that she is pregnant." I don't have the mpeg on this laptop to confirm, but I do remember watching and thinking that maybe he wasn't happy after all?--Kanamekun 02:45, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Just watched the scene again and it's not clear that he's surprised. He kinda looks puzzled, then smiles, then grimaces... it could be consistent with him being surprised that she's already aware of her symptoms, then being happy that his plan is working and that she loves him after all, and then pain at realizing that he had to manipulate her to love him after all?
- Also, there's a scene in a later episode (I think it's Season 7, ep 2 - Kara) where Lana confronts Lex about what he did and he says, "The things I did to you were beyond inexcusable. I don't blame you for wanting to ruin my life, I probably would want to do the same thing." Then in Fierce (ep 4), there may be a more explicit reference to the crib? I don't have that ep nearby so can't confirm. --Kanamekun 14:51, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- I wrote the Static recap, so I guess I keep changing my mind on Lex's expression! So it's probably good that it says it is "unreadable". At your closer inspection, and in light of what we know now, I'd say it's safe to state that it was Lex's doing. Thanks for your input. Marikology

Just asking...[]
I've noticed that the Season One text describes Lex being a bit romantically interested in her. I'm only talking about that text regarding the first season. Doesn't the fact that 21-year old Lex apparently was interested in 14/15-year old Lana strike you as a bit... odd? OoppDecks (talk) 15:34, November 7, 2014 (UTC)
