Capitalized?[]
OK, is it Kryptonite with a capital K because it's a proper name from the planet, or uncapitilized because it's simply a mineral (like gold or silver?) Does anybody know for sure? Which convention should the wiki stick with? Marikology 01:42, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- You are correct with that comparison with gold and silver. It should be lower case. LanaIsDead 08:21, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Blue Kryptonite?[]
Why do we call that Victory Ring as Blue Kryptonite? It's not kryptonite. Kryptonite is a radioactive piece of Krypton. Clark did not call that ring as kryptonite so this is a same category as Kara Zor-El and Jonh Jones. We should not consider that Victory Ring as kryptonite. BatteryB7, 24 November 2007
- Chloe does call it "blue K" in the episode Blue. Marikology 04:55, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Wrath[]
- Clear Kryptonite also appeared in Wrath, in the scene where Lana and Clark switched back around the end of the episode.
- Ah great point, you should def add that to the article! --Kanamekun 03:35, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Terminology[]
I've been working on this quietly because it's rather nit-picky, but I figured I should bring it up for discussion. I don't think it's appropriate to use the term "kryptonite" in certain circumstances; specifically, in episodes before Visitor when the term was established, and when describing plot summary for characters that have no knowledge of the term (mainly Lex Luthor). I think notes or exposition is okay, but the term needs to be changed to "meteor rock" when describing the actions of characters that don't know it by any other name. Thoughts? Is it worth clarifying? Marikology 04:55, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ah I've actually been helping remove references to kryptonite in the early seasons... but wow, it never occurred to me to use "meteor rock" for characters who aren't aware of the term. Great catch! I'll also try out your new policy for a while, and see if confusing situations arise. In the meantime, feel free to add it to a policy page somewhere :-). --Kanamekun 05:18, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
I noticed something about green K, at least, i think im on to something. in 8x14 Requim, when Clark gets near a small shard of green K, he feels the effects (10 feet or so away). When Lana absorbs the kryptonite, the effects wear of, yet the kryptonite remains in lana's body. the diffrence is the densety of kryptonite. from this i conclude that the densety affects the weakening power of green K.
Fortress of solitude made of kryptonite?[]
Clear kryptonite looks alot like the crystals in Kryptonian technology. Maybe the clear one is the natural kryptonite found on Krypton, which was used by the Kryptonians. When the planet exploded the remaining clear K absorbed the radiation and turned green?--SG-27 16:41, January 15, 2011 (UTC)
Splitting Kryptonite page into two?[]
What do you guys think of having two separate pages:
- Kryptonite - An overview page about the mineral, with links to its many types of Kryptonite
- Green kryptonite - A page specific to just green K.
A lot of the "Kryptonite" page is currently about just Green K. This made sense in the earlier seasons, but at this point there have been many colors of kryptonite and it seems like it's time for Green K to have its own page just like Blue, Red and Gold kryptonite. Plus we could use a general Kryptonite page to summarize differences between the various types of K - for example, some will impact you if they are in proximity, whereas others requires you to wear them. That sort of stuff currently isn't really getting captured in the Kryptonite article.
Let me know what you guys think! --Kanamekun 16:28, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
- Kanamekun, that's a great idea, I'm up for it! When, if this move goes through, I will be more than happy to help in moving it to a separate page, adding all of the details and infomation to the new page. :-) -- ImperiexSeed, 5:28 PM, May 30th 2011
- All right, I have started the process! --Kanamekun 02:53, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
Naturally occurirng kryptonite[]
Going to split the list of krypto colors into two categories:
- Naturally occurring kryptonite: green, blue, red and gold (these forms of kryptonite are found on Earth in an unprocessed form, and usually appear as uncut Kryptonian crystals).
- Processed kryptonite: black kryptonite is formed from green kryptonite. Silver kryptonite is also synthetically formed, albeit from an unclear source. Clear kryptonite is also only created by draining green K. (It's unclear if gemstone kryptonite is processed or not, although it is in a processed form the only time it appears in the show).
Basically there appear to only be four natural forms of kryptonite... everything else is a processed or synthetic kryptonite. I thought that was useful and worth capturing on the wiki... what do you guys think? --Kanamekun 00:54, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
Silver K[]
Ah what happened to the Silver K that used to appear on this page? --Kanamekun 01:06, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
