Reverted because the article is basically unreadable with excessive pictures and wikilinks. I suggest adding additional details about the fortress before more links and pictures are added-- there has to be enough text to support them for it to be on par with the other articles on the site. Sections[]
I'm not thrilled with the section titles either... especially naming the second section History of the Fortress. But combining the Creation and the History sections feels a bit unwieldy. Any ideas on how to address this? --Kanamekun 05:44, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- Perhaps the "history" should be more about the mythology of the fortress both in the comics and in the movies. That would seem more appropriate. Reading the info under "history" reads more like a plot summary of events involving the Fortress. Perhaps we could break that down into Season 4, 5, etc.? Just a thought.--TrumpetManLA 05:49, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, that's brilliant!!! We can break it into seasons... awesome. --Kanamekun 05:51, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, looks great now! --TrumpetManLA 05:41, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Death of the Fortress[]
Something I've never really understood... how did Clark mess up so bad by refusing to kill Zod's Vessel (Lex), and killing Brainiac instead?
I mean, I get why he made that choice...I just don't get the mechanism by which:
- Brainiac managed to gain access to the Fortress through the dagger and opened a portal that released Zod's spirit into Lex's body
- Clark accidentally killed the Fortress and how it lost all its power
How exactly did the dagger do all that?! --Kanamekun 23:20, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- As seen in Solitude, the Fortress can release Zod. Here is a quote that may help:
- "The dagger is part of this Fortress. Plunging it into Fine destroyed all copies of him but also damaged this structure and released Zod." - Jor-El (to Martha Kent) (Zod)
- Brainiac seemed to have access to the Fortress through the dagger, which let him release Zod. Something like that.
- --Stressed dessert 00:58, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Brainiac's ability to access the Fortress might be related to his Kryptonian origin and that he was originally made by Jor-El. Moreover, Brainiac has vast Kryptonian knowledge and thus he might have been able to damage the Fortress.
- --Dva 01:20 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, awesome quote! So the dagger is part of the Fortress... so when it plunged into Brainiac, it:
- Allowed Brainiac to access the Fortress, and use the power of the Fortress to open a portal to the Phantom Zone
- But at the same time, hurt the Fortress... either directly (the Dagger was corrupted by touching Brainiac, which hurt the Fortress) or indirectly (Brainiac accessing the Fortress drained so much power, the Fortress
- Ah, awesome quote! So the dagger is part of the Fortress... so when it plunged into Brainiac, it:
- Is stabbing a Kryptonian with a Kryptonian Dagger allows them to access the power of the Fortress, how come Kara tried to stab Zor-El with one? Although I guess in that case, he already had control over the Fortress maybe. Or as Dva put it, maybe Brainiac is special - after all, he is basically a computer, so maybe stabbing him is different then stabbing a native Kryptonian? --Kanamekun 01:32, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Article Opening[]
The opening has a lot of plot summary early on now... I wonder if it's better to keep the statement of facts up front, and then segue into the plot summary. It's tricky though, since the Fortress is undergoing a lot of flux right now... --Kanamekun 01:02, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
How's this for an opening?[]
Kanamekun; first, hey, it's been a while. I think I'm getting sucked back in. Is this what you're looking for in an article opening? ->->
The Fortress of Solitude is a crystaline structure which Clark travels to in the arctic to talk with his father Jor-El. After combining the Stones of Power, the resulting Crystal of Knowledge had the potency to form this unique structure. Once Clark threw the Crystal into the ice, a crystal dwelling emerged which contained all knowledge of the planet Krypton and also gave Clark a new way to interact with Jor-El aside from his ship.
Though the Fortress has at times been destroyed and/or infected, it plays an important role in the show and in the general Superman mythology. At present, the Fortress does exist, and Clark is still able to interact with Jor-El through the Fortress.
The Fortress has many powers and can be of great benefit to whoever is in control of it.

- Hey TrumpetManLA! Yah that's getting there, although there's some plot summary in there too in the opening.
- I guess it's just tricky to describe the fortress these days without plot summary, since it's changing so much (being destroyed, being rebuilt, being corrupted). I like your take on it - I'll try to incorporate it into an edit soon! --Kanamekun 18:35, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Very Temporary Protection[]
I temporarily protected this page, so that we could open a discussion about the recent edits (rather than have a revert war). Once this discussion is over, then I will unprotect the page. Thanks... --Kanamekun 22:55, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- The reason i keep reverting the edits is because every it's full of speculation that Brainiac possessed Chloe and mentioned the name Doomsday, we've been over this numerous times, even Marikology agrees that we call Davis "Davis" not "Doomsday", plus the IP that first started the edit war, i suspect is a sock-puppet. Elbutler 23:55, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Let's keep the discussion focused on the content of the edits. Also, did you revert again after I asked that we discuss the edits first? --Kanamekun 23:58, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't notice yur note untill after i reverted the page again. Here's my thoughts, we already know that i'm against using the name Doomsday. It's because it's a comic book name, and it says in the list of policies that we avoid calling characters by their comic book name, plus when the name surfaced in Abyss, we can't conclude that Brainiac meant the persona, "Doomsday is coming" usually means the coming of the apocalypse. Elbutler 00:43, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- I will leave some clarification on Davis vs Doomsday on his talk page. Marikology 22:37, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Current Status[]
What is the current status of the fortress? Dead? Since brainiac was extracted from Chloe I didn't notice\remember what happened to it... Dudyk 02:30, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
The fortress is not dead jor-el(AI) was built after brainiac so it is pretty safe to assume that jor-el to is a quantum computer that can regenerate just like brainiac and is much more advance than him. it might take some time but he'll be back and he'll bring back the fortress. The "Fixed" fortress[]
How do we know that the fortress was actually fixed and that Brainiac isn't still controlling it? In the alternate future, Clark followed the fortress' instructions to sever all his links with his human friends, and it led to Zod messing up the sun and taking over the world... Why would Jor-El cause this future to happen?64.180.167.15 01:17, December 14, 2009 (UTC)
