- Another reason for Lionel to call Lana the "Chosen One" could be that he believed (or wanted people to believe) then that Lana Lang was the traveler (a word not used until season 7), as would the rest of the Veritas Group think. However when Jason was about to be shot by Lionel he said something about Clark being more connected to this than anyone else which would prove the theory about they believing Lana to be the traveler wrong.
