Somebody put up a bullet "The fan theory is that the gold seen in the picture is gold kryptonite, it could explain why he has no abilities" which is wrong. There is no "theory" since this is the same piece of metal that is found by Clark and Kara in Season 7 Episode 3 "Fierce". It is not gold, and does not remove their abilities.

That would be my cousin using my account. I need to change the password because he gets on the Canadian Kryptonsite forums or something like that and he adds major spoilers to pages on this wiki, spoiling it for all users who don't come here to be spoiled about upcoming Smallville occurrings. He said that the fan theory (and many people now actually think this) was that Dax had a gold-kryptonite ring he got when he was on Krypton and when he got to Earth, he lost his powers and could not return to Krypton. But I (Vezz801) am NOT doing these things and I WILL change my password right now so that he doesn't come up with fan theories or something stupid like that. I apologize on my cousin's behalf. Thanks! Troy 02:43, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Dax-Ur and aging???[]

It has been confirmed that Dax-Ur is trapped on Earth since the early 1900's. I wondered how he managed to fight the aging process without his powers. I mean, Marc McClure doesn't look like a supercentenarian! Any thoughts?

Good point, without his powers he should age naturally since his cells aren't regenerating. One possibility is that Kryptonian DNA naturally retards the aging process, even without powers. According to some versions of the Krypton story, even Kryptonians under a red sun had DNA which would extend their lifespan [1].
Or alternatively, maybe some device or power source (kryptonite? that would be ironic) gave him powers that let him live longer... --Kanamekun 13:10, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Good examination, Kanamekun! Advanced Kryptonian science could be the key to his "youth". His powers are probably surpressed by blue kryptonite. At least, this is my suggestion.... --Dva 13:38, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

you're looking too deeply (excuse, if you will my ignorance of wiki protocols): dax-ur states that he spent time alone, on earth, before meeting his wife. he simply didn't begin aging until the point in their relationship when he decided to give up his powers - he may've been fully powered for fifty years or more. otoh, he appears rather older than his wife, and his song rather young for his (dax-ur's) apparent age. of course, this could just be a may-december romance, or, even more simply, the fact that they wanted to use the actor who played jimmy olsen in the chris reeve films, and got a little sloppy with his family's age. ~~ matthew/altgrave

The way the writers handled the character.[]

First, I like the blue kryptonite explanation of his age. Although maybe he was older when he left Krypton as well. (He was an accomplished scientist when he went into self-imposed exile.)

What I do not like is the way that the show keeps killing of the "good" Kryptonians, especially Dax Ur. I think that this character had much to offer Clark his journey.

I do think, though, that Dax could have survived his encounter with Braniac. Both Lana and Cloe survived their encounters after Clark destroyed Braniac. Furthermore, Clark has survived two near death experiences (seasons 5 and 8). So it stands to reason that Dax could still be alive.

I know that he is a minor character, but this still bothers me.
