Observations[]
- Lois says that she's "had more heroes exit stage left then a Greek tragedy." This is a reference to Green Arrow and Aquaman, Lois' former boyfriends who left Smallville and eventually joined a team of superheroes.
- Lex and Kara both state that the Luthors had cared for Kara for years, suggesting that Lionel had recovered her from Reeves Dam (and suspended animation) a long time ago. Since Kara appears roughly the same age as she is in the normal reality, Kara may have stopped visibly aging due to her Kryptonian healing factor.
- Brainiac mentions that he'll use Kara and "her Fortress" to release General Zod from the Phantom Zone. This suggests that in the alternate reality, Kara was able to unite the Stones of Power, form the Crystal of Knowledge, and create the Fortress of Solitude.
- In the alternate reality, Lex Luthor is President of the United States. The Constitution requires that the President be at least 35 years old; since Lex was born circa 1980, the alternate reality must be set in at least 2015. This would explain why Lana Lang is already married with two children, and how Lois Lane has had time to win a Pulitzer.
Spoilers[]
A lot of details were released about this episode before it aired that were not actually in the aired version. These spoilers were most likely taken from the script, which is often edited for time or changed during post-production.
- Chloe's fiancé's name was "George Dean". She was also an ace reporter.
- The blonde "Clark Kent" was rumored to be called "Chris Kent." In the comics, Chris Kent is the name of General Zod's and Ursa's son that they have in the Phantom Zone and send to Earth where he is adopted by Superman and Lois Lane. He is analogous to Jason Lane-White in the film Superman Returns.
- The two characters named "Chris" and "George Dean" were in honor of the actors who have had celebrated roles as Superman - Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain and George Reeves.
TV Guide description[]
James Marsters Brainiac is back, and as his decious plan to take over Earth continues to unfold, Clark is having a pity party. "Since the day I arrived, all I've brought is suffering and death," he frets in this weeks 150th episode of Smallville. "meteor freaks, phantoms, Brainiac. If I never reached earth, none of them wouldve ever been here." Right on cue, his own version of it's a wonderful life plays out when his kryptonian dad, Jor-El, enables the future Superman to experience what would have happened had his rocket ship never landed in Kansas. In this alternate reality, Lois is a Pullitzer prize-winning reporter for the Daily Planet, and Lex is President. Needless to say things are not better on Earth without Clark, and to save the world from apocolypse, he teams up with Lois--evoking some classic Superman mythology moments, including a newsroom collision between the future lovers reminciscent of Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder's meet-cute-and-clumsy from Superman: The movie, says executive producer Al Gough "this just proves that no matter what the reality is, Lois and Clark are destined to be with each other."[1]
"Clark Kent"[]
If we created a page for the "Clark Kent" in the alternate reality, what would we call it... "Clark Kent (Apocalypse)"? --Kanamekun 21:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't think there's enough info given to unstub it: I'd just mention him as a trivia blurb on Clark's real page.
"Apocalypse"[]
Isn't Apocalypse also the name of Darkseids home world,or is it spelled differently like Darkseid's name? --96.25.119.134 22:26, 16 July 2009 (UTC)comicsgeek101
- yes, it's Apokolips.
You're not in Kansas anymore[]
The line just gets me, all it was missing was You're on Kandora LoL.
Apocalypse Reality[]
Since the Clark Kent native to this universe and Chloe's fiancé from this universe have their own article pages, should not the other alternate characters native to this universe receive their own pages?
If they should, can they be categorized as a group of characters from a specific universe? Just like Earth-2, Earth-13 and Earth-Majestic have for their characters?
