History[]
A prominent and wealthy family. By the 1980's, Dr. Virgil Swann had become involved with the Veritas Society, which he was the leader of. In 1982, his daughter Patricia was born. Virgil Swann passed away in the spring of 2005. Patricia was convinced that he had been murdered by Lionel Luthor. Patricia was murdered by an assassin, working for Lex Luthor, in 2008.

- The Swann family is original to the continuity of Smallville. Their name might be a reference to Curt Swan, a prolific Superman comic book artist.
- After Patricia's death, Lionel Luthor expresses his condolences to her family.[2] However, outside of Virgil and Patricia, no other members of the Swann family ever appeared or were mentioned outside of that.
