Notes[]
Lisa Davis as she appears in the comics
Jack Davis as he appears in the comics
- Pete's dad voices concern about Pete having a romantic interest in Chloe Sullivan (a white girl). This marks a rare instance where Pete being black has been an issue, or even discussed.
- Part of the novel takes place on a farm that used to belong to the Davis family. It is unknown if this Davis family is intended as a reference to Lisa Davis, a Smallville resident who first appeared in Superboy Vol 2 #40 (April, 1983), and became the girlfriend of her classmate Clark Kent. Adventure Comics #151 (April, 1950) had featured another classmate of Clark's named Jack Davis. It is never established whether Jack and Lisa are related.
- Smallville later featured some Smallville residents with the last name Davis. Brothers Vince and Garrett Davis in the Season Three episode Resurrection (though, their family is said to be in demolition, not farming). In the Season Four episode Commencement, Clark's graduating class is shown to include a Cody Davis.
Continuity[]
- Smallville Issue 9 and the Acknowledgements section of the book states that the book takes place between the episodes Zero and Nicodemus.
- The book mistakenly switches the names of Dale and Bill Ross between the two characters, referring to Dale as Pete's father and Bill as Pete's uncle.
- This marks the first time Keystone City is mentioned in Smallville's continuity.
