- The two episodes he directed were also episodes that he had written: Ageless and Justice.

- Ageless was the third lowest rated episode of Season 4 (8.85/10).[2]
- Steven S. DeKnight notes on the Splinter commentary that Smallville was the third show that he had worked on with actor James Marsters when both started working on the show with Marsters' first episode with DeKnight, Thirst. The first show that they worked on was Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then its spin-off show, Angel. DeKnight joked that by this coincidence that he was "stalking" Marsters through each show he was on.
- After Justice, a spin-off series in which Oliver led the Justice League made it into early development. DeKnight, who wrote and directed the episode, was to have been showrunner. [3]
