The Pilot episode of Smallville describes the population as 25,001 in 1989 and 45,001 in 2001. For such a small town, they seem to have an inordinate number of deaths. This article will detail the body count of each episode in Season Seven. Serious injuries and other crimes will also be noted, but only actual lives lost will be tallied. Likewise, although Clark saves people from various ill fates, his rescues will only be counted if death seemed reasonably certain. Since the death of a metahuman is not always certain, continual updates are expected.

Bizarro (episode) (9/27/07)
S701bodycount Lives lost: 3 (including Chloe) + several police officers Lives saved: 6 Villain: Captured, held on Mars (Bizarro)
Bizarro incinerated a bystander and killed Lex Luthor's assistant Keating by evisceration. Chloe Sullivan died in the ER but came back to life in the morgue. An unknown number of policemen were probably killed when the dam broke. Clark saved a fisherman and his son from oncoming floodwaters, then saved Lois, Chloe, and Philipe, another 33.1 subject, from a possible cave in. Kara saved Lex from drowning in the police cruiser.
Kara (10/4/07)
S702bodycount Lives lost: 2 Lives saved: Possibly thousands Villain: Unknown
Two park rangers were killed close to where the Kryptonian ship was, but their killer was not revealed. Possibly thousands were saved when Kara apparently kept the ship from self-destructing and exploding.
Fierce (10/11/07)
S703bodycount Lives lost: 1 Lives saved: 2 Villain: Deceased (Carly), captured (Tempest and Tyler)
Carly, who was one of three thieves, was frozen to death by Tyler Crenshaw, one of her companions in crime. Kara saves Jimmy Olsen from being frozen to death by Tyler, then saves Clark from meteor rock stirred up from the ground by Tempest Grace, the third member of the gang.
Cure (10/18/07)
S704bodycount Lives lost: 4 Lives saved: 2 Villain: Captured by Clark Kent and held by Martian Manhunter (Knox)
Dr. Curtis Knox killed Sasha Woodman and at least two previous Meteor Infecteds previously held by Level 33.1. Dr. Knox's wife Sophia died when her life support machine was accidentally destroyed. Clark saved Lex Luthor and Chloe Sullivan from Dr. Knox.
Action (10/25/07)
S705bodycount Lives lost: 1 Lives saved: 4 Villain: 1 killed (Marilyn), 1 captured (Ben Meyers), 1 free (Lana)
Clark Kent saved Rachel Davenport when her car's brake line was cut; then he saved her from being shot. Clark saved Lana Lang when Ben Meyers threw her off a building. Lex rescued Lionel Luthor from Marilyn but it is not clear if his life was in imminent danger. Lionel Luthor killed Marilyn, very possibly saving Lex from death via shotgun blast.
Lara (11/1/07)
S706bodycount Lives lost: 1 Lives saved: 2 Villain: Deceased (Carter)
Clark Kent saved Kara from Agent Carter administrating a lethal dose of Kryptonite; Lionel Luthor saved Clark from Agent Carter stabbing him by shooting him.
Wrath (11/8/07)
S707bodycount Lives lost: 0 Lives saved: 2 Villain: Free (Lana)
Clark Kent saved Lex from being tortured and killed by Lana Lang. Clark probably saved Lana from fatal kryptonite exposure. Lex didn't press charges on Lana and therefore she is free.
Blue (11/15/07)
S708bodycount Lives lost: 2 replicants Lives saved: 2 individuals, plus the Earth's population (6 billion plus) Villain: Deceased (Zor-El)
Clark Kent saved Lionel Luthor and Kara Kent lives from the Zor-El replicant. Clark didn't save Lana from being injured by Zor-El. Clark saved the lives of the population of Earth, over six billion people, from Zor-El blotting out the Sun. The Kryptonian replicants were destroyed.
Gemini (12/13/07)
S709bodycount Lives lost: 2 Lives saved: 2, perhaps more Villain: Deceased (Adrian)
Adrian Cross kills a delivery man, then dies when he is shot by Lex Luthor. "Clark Kent", revealed to be Bizarro, saves both Chloe Sullivan and Jimmy Olsen from the bomb Adrian planted on Chloe. It is conceivable that more people could had died depending on how powerful the bomb was.
Persona (1/31/08)
S710bodycount Lives lost: 10 (counting the destruction of Bizarro and the likely death of Dax-Ur) Lives saved: 0 Villain: Alive (Lex Luthor and Brainiac), deceased (Bizarro)
Brainiac killed seven homeless people off screen, and most likely killed Dax-Ur. Lex Luthor had Grant Gabriel murdered. Bizarro exploded when Lana exposed him to blue kryptonite. It is not certain but most likely that he has been permanently destroyed. No one was saved because it is unlikely Bizarro would have killed either Lana or Clark Kent.
Siren (2/7/08)
S711bodycount Lives lost: 0 Lives saved: 4 Villain: Alive but injured (Lex)
Black Canary was fooled into helping Lex Luthor; she had no intention of killing Chloe, Lois Lane, Oliver Queen, or Clark Kent, so they were not saved. Green Arrow probably saved Black Canary from being fatally shot by Lex. Clark saved Lex from Green Arrow's arrow; he also simultaneously saved Black Canary from a fatal bullet from Lex. Black Canary probably saved Green Arrow from being shot by a second Luthor guard. Green Arrow shot one of Lex's guards but it most likely wasn't fatal.
Fracture (2/14/08)
S712bodycount Lives lost: 1 (Chloe, temporarily) Lives saved: 8 Villain: In custody (Finley)
Lex Luthor most likely saved Lois from being killed by Finley. Clark saved Lois Lane and a powerless Kara from being shot dead by Finley. Lionel Luthor and Chloe both saved Lex after he was shot: Lionel with Project Intercept so Clark could enter Lex's mind, and Chloe with her healing powers when he flatlined. In Lex's mind, Clark and Lex's good conscience, Alexander, saved each other from Lex's evil conscience. Chloe had no heartbeat for 18 hours but the nature of her power saved her.
Hero (3/13/08)
S713bodycount Lives lost: 0 Lives saved: 2 Villain: Alive (Lex)
Pete Ross saved a powerless Kara Kent from a falling speaker at the concert. Lex's bodyguard/henchman saved Lex from Pete strangling him to death. Lionel Luthor saved Clark from the kryptonite Pete left on him. While Clark did save Pete from being tortured by Lex and his henchman, it is not certain that Lex would had killed Pete Ross.
Traveler (3/20/08)
S714bodycount Lives lost: 2 Lives saved: 3 (Clark twice) Villain: Alive (Lionel and Lex), Dead (Pierce)
Chloe and Lana saved Kara from Lex Luthor, but it's uncertain if her life was in danger. This allowed Kara to save Clark Kent from kryptonite radiation; Lionel saved Clark and Kara from Pierce's kryptonite taser by killing Pierce. Lex had Patricia Swann killed.
Veritas (episode) (3/27/08)
S715bodycount Lives lost: 0 Lives saved: 0 Villain: Alive (Brainiac)
Lana's mind and body was taken over by Brainiac, but she is still alive.
Descent (4/17/08)
S716bodycount Lives lost: 2 Lives saved: 2 Villain: Alive (Lex Luthor) Deceased (Gina)
Lex killed his father Lionel Luthor. Gina was killed by an unknown assassin who was later revealed to have been sent by Edward Teague. Clark Kent saved Jimmy and Lois from being frozen to death in a basement freezer. Clark didn't save a knocked out Chloe because her life wasn't in danger. Also Lex "killed" his conscience, represented by a younger version of himself.
Sleeper (4/24/08)
S717bodycount Lives lost: 0 Lives saved: 1 Villain: at liberty (Vanessa Webber)
Lex Luthor saved himself from being killed in Zürich, Switzerland. Lex retaliated but the assasin's status is unknown. Jimmy Olsen saved Chloe Sullivan from being tortured by Department of Domestic Security agent Vanessa Webber, but it is unlikely Webber would have killed her.
Apocalypse (5/1/08)
S718bodycount Lives lost: None, in reality; the entire Kryptonian population on Krypton. In the alternate universe, billions (Earth's population) Lives saved: 3 in 1989; In alternate reality, Lex Luthor, Kara Kent and elites chosen by Lex. Villain: Apparently destroyed (Brainiac in common timeline 1989); Lex and Brainiac at liberty in the alternate reality.
In the alternate universe story, no one was saved except those chosen by Lex Luthor in bomb shelters. Lois Lane was saved by Clark Kent from DDS agents but was not likely to be killed. In the common 1989 timeline, Krypton's population was killed, but Clark saved Kara and his infant self.
Quest (5/8/08)
S719bodycount Lives lost: 3 Lives saved: 4 Villain: 1 at liberty (Edward Teague), 1 deceased (Veritas assassin)
An assassin sent by Brother Edward Teague, the last surviving member of Veritas, killed two of Lex's bodyguards guarding Milash. Lex Luthor killed another Veritas assassin trying to kill Milash, saving him. Earlier, the sound of Lex's security entering saved Lex from Teague's assassin, the same one that killed Gina and tried to kill Lex in Zurich. Chloe saved Clark Kent from being Teague's human sacrifice. Clark saved Teague from being killed by Lex.
Arctic (5/15/08)
S720bodycount Lives lost: 4 + members of Luthor's Arctic expeditions Lives saved: 2 Villain: Apparently destroyed (Brainiac), unknown (Lex Luthor)
Brainiac, posing as Kara, killed Edward Teague, the pilot, and the copilot of a private jet that Teague was heading to South America on. Apparently the Fortress of Solitude killed several of Lex Luthor's expeditions to find it. When Clark apparently destroyed Brainiac, he saved Chloe and Lana from catatonia. However, Brainiac has been destroyed several times in the past but has later returned. Kara Kent was not saved by Clark in Apocalypse and is currently trapped in the Phantom Zone.
