History[]

The Ross family was known to reside in the town of Smallville since the year 1870.[3]

At some point, the Brothers Bill and Dale Ross came to own the Ross Creamed Corn factory within the town. By the 1980s, Bill had married a lawyer (later judge) named Abigail. Together they had five children. The youngest, Pete, was born in 1987. In 1989, the Ross family sold the Ross Creamed Corn factory to Lionel Luthor, who turned it into fertilizer plant.[4] In the spring of 2004, the marriage of Bill and Abigail fell apart. They divorced, with Abigail and Pete moving to Wichita, while Bill Ross remained in Smallville.[5]

Kathy Ross was valedictorian for class of 1997. Sam was a star football player. Mike assisted Pete Ross with Algebra homework. One of the brothers shared a room with Pete, and liked to play video games until 5am.

In the Bronze Age of comics, Pete Ross married an unnamed woman (who passed away), with whom Pete had a son, named Jonathan "Jon" Ross. Jon Ross first appeared in Action Comics #457 (March, 1976).

Following Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Jon Ross character was dropped from the continuity of DC Comics. The post-Crisis Pete Ross went on to marry (and later divorce) Lana Lang, with whom he had a son named Clark Peter Ross. Clark Peter Ross first appeared in Superman: The Doomsday Wars #1 (November, 1998).
