Smallville Wiki

Nathaniel Kent was a sheriff turned farmer. He was the father of Hiram Kent and the grandfather of Jonathan Kent.

Biography[]

One of the sons of Silas Kent. Nathaniel became a sheriff and got married. Together with his wife, Nathaniel bought land in Smallville, and built a two-room timber farm house. They later built a larger home, located closer to the road into town.[1] In 1924, Nathaniel and his wife had a son, Hiram Kent.[2]

Notes[]

  • The character's name was established in the Smallville: The Visual Guide. However, there is an inconsistency between it and the show. In Smallville: The Visual Guide, Nathaniel and his wife are said to have bought the land, and started the Kent farm, in 1871.[1] In the Season Three episode Legacy, the tombstone of Hiram Kent (their son) gives Hiram's year of birth as 1924,[2] 53 years after his parents (presumably both adults at the time) bought the land in 1871.

A family tree in Superboy #79 (March, 1960) identifies the father of Hiram Kent[3] as one Lewis Kent, a scientist. In addition to Hiram, Lewis had at least one more child, a son named Simon Kent, who appeared in Superboy #113 (June, 1964).
