Michael Shanks Garrett is a Canadian actor who played the recurring character Carter Hall/Hawkman in the nine season episodes Absolute Justice, Part 1, Absolute Justice, Part 2, and season finale Salvation. He reprised his role in the tenth season episodes Shield and Icarus.
Shanks is also known for his role as Dr. Daniel Jackson in the long-running American-Canadian science fiction television series Stargate SG-1, a role that brought Shanks international fame and which has also become his best well-known role to date.
Shanks starred alongside Erica Durance in the Canadian medical series, Saving Hope.
Shanks is married to Lexa Doig, who portrayed Dr. Christina Lamell on Smallville.
