Mark Black is a reporter at the Daily Planet.
Season Nine[]
When Zod went to the Daily Planet for information, he passed Mark Black, on the stairs to the Daily Planet bullpen, and swiped Mark's press badge.
Notes[]
- In the episode Escape, there is a Mark Black staying at the McDougal Inn (with his wife, Bridget). However, that Mark Black is from Edge City.
- Mark Black does not appear in depictions of the years 2013, 2017 and 2018 (nor in the Season Eleven comic, set between 2011 and 2012). Nor does a "Mark Black" name plate appear on any desk at the Daily Planet in those years.[1][2][3] Towards the end of the show, they seemingly began to phase out the Daily Planet employees (that were original to the show, which would include Mark Black), for canonical supporting characters from the Superman comics.[4][5][6][7] Depictions of the future in Salvation, Homecoming and Finale, Part 2 have all the named Daily Planet employees be Ron Troupe, Perry White, and James Bartholomew "Jimmy" Olsen.[1][2][3] The one exception being Jeff Hage, who appears in the 2013 sequence in Salvation[1] and the 2017 sequence in Homecoming,[2] but is absent from the 2018 sequence in Finale, Part 2 (despite appearing in the 2011 part of Finale, Part 1).[8][3] Jeff himself vanishes after the Season Eleven story Haunted.[9] In the remaining Season Eleven stories, all the named Daily Planet employees are Perry White, Cat Grant, Franklin Stern, and Steve Lombard.[10][11][12][13]
- It is unknown if Mark Black is related to Ron Black, a Daily Planet reporter appearing in What I Did On My Summer Vacation.
