He was involved in a Checkmate operation to capture former Checkmate agent Tess Mercer, and finding Watchtower. He worked with agents Stuart Campbell and Dr. Paul Brenner. They managed to trace a tracker implanted in Mercer to Metropolis General Hospital, where the signal just vanished, and the trio left. It is unknown if he survived Zod's attack and destruction of Checkmate.
