Right before Smallville was about to be struck by the 2005 Meteor Shower, Lex Luthor ordered him to fly Lana Lang away in a helictoper. However, the helictopter found itself flying right in the middle of the meteor shower and crashed. Lana survived, but the pilot was killed on impact.
