John Burke is the mayor of Metropolis.
Season Ten[]
Booster Gold convinced Ted Kord (a good friend of the mayor) to pull some strings to get the mayor to give him the key to the city. The mayor attended a rehearsal for the event, which was interrupted by an attack from Blue Beetle. The event ended up never happening.
Notes[]
- The character's name is never established in the episode Booster.[1] A draft for a Lois Lane article in the Season Seven episode Wrath gives the name of the Metropolis mayor as "John Burke". It is possible that John Burke was still the mayor by 2011. Though, given that Booster was written by Geoff Johns, who had an affinity for filling his episodes with easter eggs to the comics,[2][3][4][1] it is possible that the mayor in Booster is intended to be one of the Metropolis mayors from the comics.

In the Comics[]
Metropolis has had several mayors over the years. A high number of them have been unnamed.[5][6][7][8] The first mayor of Metropolis appeared in Action Comics #12 (May, 1939), where Superman stops him for speeding.
At times, during the 1940s, the mayor of Metropolis was assigned a name. Though, it was seemingly either a new mayor each time, or the result of inconsistent naming. These included Mayor Worth,[9] Mayor Caldwell,[10] and Mayor Gerard.[11] In the 1970s, the mayor of Metropolis was Mayor Harkness.[12][13][14][15]
Following the Johny Byrne reboot in the 1980s, a notable and long-running Metropolis mayor was Frank Berkowitz, who first appeared in The Man of Steel #4 (November, 1986). He was assassinated in Superman Vol 2 #131 (January, 1998), and replaced by Bradford "Buck" Sackett (who was in the pocket of Lex Luthor).
