Jessica Kent (December, 1928 - March, 1988[1]) was the mother of Jonathan Kent and the wife of Hiram Kent.
Early life[]
Jessica was born December, 1928.[1] She married Hiram Kent by 1960.
Season Three[]
After Louise McCallum was killed on June 17, 1961, her accused murderer "Joe" came across Hiram and his wife Jessica at the Kent Farm. Jessica gave Joe one of Hiram's jackets so he wouldn't stand out. Before leaving the farm with Joe, Hiram said goodbye to Jessica and their unborn child "Gene" but she insisted his name would be Jonathan.[2] Jessica became a widow in 1980 and passed away eight years later.[1]
Appearances[]
- Season Three: Relic (flashback only), Legacy (Mentioned only)
Notes[]
- Clark told Jonathan what Hiram told "Joe" and suggested that Jonathan and Martha were chosen by Jor-El to raise him because of the love that he felt at the Kent Farm.[2]
- Kendall Cross also played a little girl's mother in Season One's Jitters and supplied the voice of Lara-El in Season Three's Memoria.
- Jessica Kent has the same initials as her son Jonathan Kent: J.K.
- Possibly the mother or aunt of Bert Kent.[3] The former would explain away the inconsistency of Jessica being pregnant in 1961,[2] when Jonathan's grave states that he was born in 1954.[4] Jonathan was never identified as being an only child. In Metallo, there is a mention of Clark having cousins (through his adoptive parents).[5]
- Possibly the grandmother or great-aunt of Andrea and Kelly Kent. In the case of the former, she would also be the great-grandmother of Andrea's child.[3]
In the Comics[]
In the comics, Jonathan Kent's mother was named Edith Kent. Edith appeared only in pre-Crisis titles and she hasn't been seen since then. Her first appearance was in Superboy #77 (1959) and her second and last appearance was in Superboy #113 (1964).
