Jeremiah Holdsclaw was a graduate student at Central Kansas A&M as well as a teaching assistant for Professor Joseph Willowbrook. While he was the successor of the Kawatche chieftain, Jeremiah did not share his mentor's faith in Clark Kent, nor did he approve of LuthorCorp money.
After being summoned by Lionel Luthor to assist in researching the newly-discovered Palak relic found in the Kawatche Caves, Jeremiah angrily reclaimed the weapon and accessed its powers. Seduced by his abilities, Jeremiah took on the identity of Naman and planned to kill Lionel.
Powers and Abilities[]
While holding the Palak dagger, Jeremiah exhibited several abilities identical to those of a Kryptonian. These were intended to mimic the powers attributed to Naman - namely the strength of ten men and the power to start fires with his eyes. However, these gifts clouded his mind.[1]
- Superhuman Strength: Jeremiah showed strength parallel to that of a mid-adolescent Kryptonian, powerful enough to knock Lionel several feet away single-handedly and to prove a physical challenge for a teenage Clark - holding him down and tossing him across a forest with enough force to uproot a tree.
- Super-Speed: Jeremiah could move and react at speeds surpassing the sound barrier as well as perceive the world through a slowed perspective while moving unhindered. He generally proved a match for a teenage Clark, able to maneuver the Palak blade and stab him while both moved at super-speed.
- Invulnerability: In addition to his Naman-like powers, Jeremiah also inherited a resistance to virtually all injury. He easily withstood Lionel's men shooting him repeatedly and later showed no discomfort when he gripped the red-hot Palak blade. Finally, he survived Clark batting him with a tree. He was invulnerable to green kryptonite even though he had Kryptonian powers.
- Heat Vision: While he only exhibited this power in one instance, the blade gave Jeremiah the ability to project powerful waves of heat from his eyes. He used this ability to destroy Joseph's SUV in a display of strength. Before igniting this ability, his eyes gave off a menacing yellow flash.
- Enhanced Vision: Jeremiah regained the full use of his eyesight upon taking the blade. Before this, Jeremiah wore a pair of spectacles. He never wore his glasses as "Naman".
- Healing Factor: Lionel was going to use the blade to heal his liver disease.
- Longevity: The dagger gave him abilities until he could deliver to the true Naman, not matter how long it took.
- Knife combat: Jeremiah displayed lethal knife fighting abilities.
Vulernabilities[]
Without the dagger, Jeremiah had human physiology which lead to objects being used as weapons could hurt him and disease. Touching the knife or the knife making contact with something touching him, made an alternation to him on a physiological level resulting in high durability, however, Kryptonians could hurt him and the knife could be knocked out of his hand, rendering him human.
Early Life[]
Like Professor Willowbrook, Jeremiah was a descendant of the Native American Kawatche Indians. He was writing a dissertation on the "slumbering place," an ancient Kawatche burial ground. [1]
Season Three[]
Jeremiah and Joseph Willowbrook go to the Kawatche caves to converse with Lionel Luthor because he summoned them both to ask them some questions about the underground caverns. Upon their arrival, Lionel unearths a Kryptonian dagger traditionally known as Palak, also called the Starblade, but Jeremiah, seeing the potential danger it would cause in the hands of Lionel, steals it and activates its core, endowing him with superhuman powers similar to the abilities Kryptonians get under a yellow sun. [1]
Jeremiah, upon activating the blades powers, withstands bullets and super speeds away. As time progresses, Jeremiah, still while in possession of the blade, begins to poise (express) pride and eventually thinks that he is the true Naman and that he has been called to slay Sageeth. [1]
Upon learning from professor Joseph Willowbrook that Jeremiah bears the ancient weapon Palak, they both head to a burial ground where Jeremiah is seen conducting a ritual. There, Jeremiah and Clark discuss Sageeth, and Clark uses his heat vision ability to heat up the blade but Jeremiah smiles and touches the blade without gaining any injury, then Jeremiah shoots heat beams from his eyes. [1]
Later, Jeremiah travels to the Kents' Barn where he confronts Clark. Clark, assuming the Green kryptonite affects him like it does to all Kryptonians, uses a meteor rock and it glows in their presence but Jeremiah is unaffected and he hurls the stone away and they fight, and he stabs Clark with the dagger, giving him a permanent wound or scar. When Jonathan and Martha arrive home they see their son on the ground. Then, Jor-El through his vessel Jonathan, heals Clark's wound. [1]
The next day, Clark wakes up and talks with his parents. He then super speeds to stop Jeremiah. Thinking that Lionel is the true Sageeth, Jeremiah attempts to kill him but Clark intervens and they fight. Clark eventually wins and Jeremiah is left comatose, because Clark collided with him at super speed when he wasn't holding the knife and therefore had no superpowers at the time.[1]
