Jenna Barnum was a freshman student at Smallville High School who sat next to Chloe Sullivan in Biology class. She was the ex-girlfriend of Sean Kelvin.
Season One[]
Sean dumped Jenna and tried to hit on Chloe at a lakeside party merely a week later, but Chloe told him off because Jenna told her about the break-up.
Later Sean approached Jenna apparently trying to reconcile, and she gave in to his advance. While she was in the shower, an icy cold Sean came in and sucked the heat out of her body, freezing her completely. He then dropped her body, which shattered into pieces. Her body (or whatever remained of her) was found later that afternoon by the police, and Sean was named the prime suspect. The news of her death was broadcasted on the evening news of the local television KRAC, prompting Clark Kent to abandon his date with Lana Lang to go rescue Chloe, who was about to become Sean's next victim.
After Sean's defeat, Chloe was seen lighting a candle for Jenna at the school memorial, which also had dozens of candles and grief cards from other fellow students.

- Jenna was the first Smallville High student to be murdered by meteor freaks, and also the only student to be confirmed killed in Season One.

- On the WB's website, there was a photo of Jenna on the floor. You hear her body shatter when Sean lets her go after sucking all of the heat out of her body, meaning the sound was likely added in post instead of showing her on the floor.
