Hector Hammond first appeared in Green Lantern Vol 2 #5 (April, 1961). He was a petty criminal, who was mutated by a meteorite. His brain began to evolve at an accelerated rate, granting him telepathy and telekinesis, along with immortality. However, his body also became immobilized.
