Hangar 17 was an abandoned airstrip in Lowell County, Kansas that Lionel Luthor acquired and converted into an advanced laboratory. When Lionel Luthor learned Clark Kent's secret he had LuthorCorp purchase an airfield outside of Metropolis and Construx Industries retrofit the facility with Kryptonite. Lionel claimed that he built the containment facility in a misguided attempt to protect Clark from forces that wished to hurt or control him.
Season Seven[]
When Patricia Swann threatened to expose Lionel as a murderer, he had Clark abducted and had him moved to the hangar. Lionel had Pierce hold Clark in a Kryptonite cage so he could use him as leverage in his negotiations with Patricia. After Clark was abducted Chole was able to discover Lionel’s facility by researching construction and power company documents. Chole and Lana helped Kara Kent escape Luthor Mansion and convinced Jor-El to return her memories (and powers) so she could save Clark. Kara used her powers to raid the hangar and save Clark. When Pierce tried to kill Clark, Lionel stepped in to save Clark, killing Pierce in the altercation.
