"I can't live in a world where you don't love me." - Clark to AU Lois, Luthor

The relationship between Clark Kent and Lois Lane has developed slowly over the years from bickering friends, dynamic partners and ultimately romantic lovers. Their relationship is also called "Clois" by fans.[1]

Their destined relationship began when they met at the beginning of his senior year of high school when Lois found Clark lying naked in the middle of Miller's Field.[2] They often bickered but despite these disputes, Lois and Clark have been shown to care a lot about each other.[3] They gradually fell in love over the course of the series.[4]

Even while the two were just friends, more than one person has commented on their chemistry over the course of their friendship. When Clark first met Lois, Lana pointed out their chemistry. Clark remarked that he couldn't stand her, and Lana replied that the "best ones always start out that way." When Oliver Queen began a romantic relationship with Lois, he half-jokingly commented that Clark masked his feelings for Lois with sarcasm due to the two of them living under the same roof for so long. Jimmy Olsen set them up for a date on Valentine's Day on the grounds that they had chemistry, yet Lois remained unconvinced, describing their potential relationship as hot fudge and halibut. A mystic named Star later cryptically told Jimmy that she had a feeling that Lois and Clark's destinies were more intertwined than anyone realized. Then there was Maxima who had come to Earth to pursue a relationship with Clark, but her attempts failed when Lois caught her and Clark together, breaking her hold on him. Maxima told Lois that Clark would have never been able to break through her hold had it not been for his feelings for Lois. Lois also demonstrated a certain attraction for Clark on the three occasions where she witnessed him openly using his powers, although she always forgot what she saw in the aftermath[5], but came to appreciate him as a person after they started working together in the Daily Planet, until Clark felt ready to tell her his secret himself.

Lois's role in Clark's life is crucial, as she provides him with an "anchor" to his humanity, allowing him to forge and sustain bonds with people and keep him human at heart so that she is able to "ground" him. It is also Lois's fierce belief and determination in Clark that helps him to embrace his destiny to become a hero.

Crusade-113

Lois takes Clark to the hospital.

After Chloe's alleged death, her cousin, Lois Lane, went to Smallville to investigate. Knowing that Chloe had a close relationship with Clark Kent, Lois went in search of Clark for answers. Coincidentally, Lois encountered Clark when he was returned as Kal-El, after being reprogrammed by Jor-El. Clark was disoriented, naked, as well as suffering from amnesia, so Lois came to his aid and took him to the Smallville Medical Center. As there was no known family to look after Clark, the receptionist assigned Lois to watch over Clark until he could be identified. Lois clearly found this responsibility a nuisance but reluctantly obliged.

Once Lois discovered that he was in fact Clark Kent, she was keen to get to know him better to help with her investigation. However, Martha Kent was keen to keep them apart while he was under the influence of his Kryptonian persona. After Clark returned to normal, Clark offered to help Lois uncover Chloe's death and suggested she stay at his house while she was in town. Lois and Clark's personalities wildly clashed during her stay, as she had little respect for his privacy and even barged in on him in the shower, much to his shock. As soon as they began their investigation and even after finding Chloe alive, they continued to argue and trade insults. However, when Lois revealed that her mother had died when she was little, Clark sympathized with Lois.

Having discovered that the murderer was Tim Westcott, she confided in Clark but he was so consumed with grief and rage that Clark almost killed him. Lois was able to reach out to Clark and calm him down. When Lois's little sister Lucy ran away, Lois confided in Clark that she felt guilty about how Lucy had turned out and Clark tried to reassure her that she was a good big sister. Lois then thanked Clark for his help and gave him a compliment saying "you're amazing smallville..you still find the best in people even when they walk all over you" and Clark smiled and said "I guess that explains why we're friends"..This drew Clark and Lois closer as they admitted to being secret friends, at that moment two stars collided, foreshadowing their relationship.

Lois and Clark discuss what could possible be in store for their future

Despite getting closer, their bickering continued. Lois hit a dog and brought him to the Kent farm. Even though Lois was highly allergic, Clark decided to keep him. In retaliation, Lois suggested they name the dog 'Clarkie' on the grounds that he was annoying and she couldn't come within ten feet of him without feeling sick. Clark was surprised when Lois teased that she accompany him to the Senior Prom. Seeing how beautiful she looked in her prom dress, Clark agreed. However, he later discovered that Lois was possessed by the spirit of Dawn Stiles and once Lois was exorcised of her, Lois was not impressed that she was Clark's date. Clark attempted to have a dance with Lois but she politely declined saying "thanks but I'm not the one you wanna dance with, she is" pointing at Lana Lang arriving at the dance.

The day Clark graduated from high school, Clark didn't even try to conceal his delight when Lois announced that she and her father were leaving town to locate her sister. She started to give him a compliment about graduating high school but couldn't resist the opportunity to tease him one last time.

She approached Clark to discover what he remembered from their escapades, nervous that they might have slept together, which they had not. Clark teased Lois about her infected behavior until she discovered a Whitesnake CD she had given him, prompting her to comment that " I must really have liked you to give you that CD". Lois sees Clark.

Lois and Clark found themselves investigating a zombie threat. Lois soon had to defend herself against the entire staff of the Daily Planet that had been transformed into zombies. When Clark eventually arrived, he was keen to protect Lois, although she was skeptical that Clark could defend them. They fought off the zombies together, although Clark was torn between maintaining his secret and protecting Lois. As a result, Lois was bitten by one zombie. In a safe location Lois and Clark shared a tender moment where Lois, unsure of their chances of survival, decided to share one of her deepest secrets that her involvement with the Blur was not just for the greater good but also for selfish reasons, but she felt an intimate connection with him that she had never experienced before which made her not want to be alone again. Clark was very touched by Lois's feelings but failed to tell her his secret when she asked him if he had anything he would like to share. As the threat worsened, Clark rushed off to Chloe to attempt to fix the situation. Clark left Lois in Oliver's care, instructing him to make sure that she did not fall asleep and allow the infection to take effect. However, Oliver, feeling threatened by Clark and Lois's seemingly blooming relationship, chose that moment to discuss his feelings for her. As Oliver let his guard down, Lois fell asleep and completed the transformation into a zombie. Clark was horrified to discover this and unwilling to inflict any harm onto Lois, he tried to reason with her. Unaware of her actions, a zombified Lois attacked Clark and pushed Clark into the street. Clark grabbed Lois and held her firmly until the antidote came down as rain and cured her. Relieved to have survived their ordeal together, Lois and Clark shared a romantic embrace in the rain. Later, Lois paid Clark a visit at the Kent farm to thank him for being there for her, stating that she had seen a new side to him, that of a hero. She also said that while he never did tell her his secret, she would find out eventually.

When Jor-El temporarily gave Clark the power of telepathy, he was able to hear Lois's thoughts and was pleased to hear about her deep attraction to him. Encouraged by her feelings for him, Clark invited Lois on a date. However, due to Toyman's threat to blow up the Ace of Clubs, Clark was unable to make his date with Lois. She misunderstood Clark's intentions and believed that Clark was chasing a story without her rather than standing her up again so followed him. Trying to keep Lois safe, Clark pretended he was only interested in the story, much to Lois's dismay.

In an effort to make amends about his dishonesty, Clark shared the byline with Lois after asking her help to finish the article. Clark apologized for letting her down and Lois accepted his apology. Clark inquired how he might get a second date after messing up to which Lois told him, hypothetically speaking, to wait for a slower news day. Clark assured her that hypothetically speaking, he would get it right the next time. Their relationship was strained when Lois accidentally discovered that Oliver had attempted suicide. She harshly reprimanded him, as she still cared for her former lover.

Fearing that she would have nothing to fall back on should newspapers have no importance in the future, Lois auditioned to be the host of "Good Morning Metropolis" and took Clark along. They were surprised when the producers offered them both the job due to their amazing chemistry. For their first assignment, they were sent on blind dates. Lois was jealous of Clark's date, Catherine Grant. Lois's date then turned out to be Oliver and Clark was visibly hurt at the thought that there may still be something between them. Their relationship took a romantic turn when Clark confronted his love for Lois and they shared a passionate kiss.

went to a therapist to discuss her feelings for Clark. Her therapist was concerned that she may have stronger feelings for the Blur than for Clark, but Lois was disappointed with the Blur's lack of contact with her and his recent botched rescues, which were actually the work of Zan and Jayna, the Wonder Twins. Clark eventually called Lois as the Blur in order to try to defend himself, but this backfired when Zan accidentally turned off the scrambler to reveal Clark's voice to Lois, who was shocked to discover Clark's secret.

Lois at first tried to get Clark to confide in her, telling him the two should get to know each other more, though Clark was obviously reluctant, pointing out that they're already so close that she tells him the color of her underwear every day. Despite Lois hinting that she knew the truth, Clark denied it and Chloe helped Clark hide his identity by phoning Lois as the Blur while she was with Clark. Confused, she admitted to her therapist that she was silly to believe that Clark was the Blur. At the Daily Planet, Clark asked Lois to meet him in the copy room. Clark confirmed to her that he had in fact been keeping a secret from her and revealed to her that he needed to wear glasses. Lois told him that they were "very Clark Kent." She apologized for assuming that he was the Blur. Lois teased Clark by recommending contact lenses and that she'd only call him "four-eyes" once in a while. She started to walk away but turned back, initiating a long kiss with Clark. This concluded with Lois having a flash of her recurring vivid dream and collapsing in Clark's arms.

With their minds in sync, Clark was able to see Lois' memories of the alternate future, which she had experienced during her absence due to the Legion ring. In these memories, Clark saw himself make love to Lois. After these memories were erased from Lois's mind and she awoke from her coma, Clark finally asked Lois about the status of their relationship. With some ground rules from Lois, they decided to become a couple.

Lois and Clark went to the Daily Planet's Wishing Well Foundation Gala. As they left, they talked about the fact it was their first personal outing as a couple. Clark suggested they go back to the farm and she jokingly turned him down, but Clark leaned forward and kissed her. Lois insisted that they slow down in order to get their relationship right. Clark then had to leave her to stop a robbery, leaving her vulnerable to an attack by the Dark Archer. This resulted in her being admitted to hospital and receiving a visit from Zod. Clark, concerned for Lois, visited her in hospital and arranged a date. Later, Lois met Clark for their date and noted that she had had to take a cab from the hospital. Clark apologized and Lois showed him the charm that Clark's friend gave her. When she mentioned Zod's name, Clark was concerned for Lois's safety.

Lois uncovered a team of vigilantes from the past known as the Justice Society of America and met Doctor Fate who revealed her fate as the key to Clark's destiny, although he named Clark as "the Savior" rather than using his name. At the Planet, Lois showed Clark her front page article about the JSA and noted that he could have had a byline with her if he hadn't disappeared. Lois mentioned what Dr. Fate said about her destiny and Clark asked her if she believed in fate, to which she replied that she believed in the fate you made happen.

Lois was assigned to cover Metropolis's annual WonderCon but changed her mind about what costume she would wear and asked Clark to pick up a new outfit from her apartment on his way to the convention. Clark arrived but Zatanna interrupted his conversation with Lois. As Clark and Zatanna headed off, Lois was clearly jealous, but when a rare comic-book was stolen at the convention, they agreed to split up to cover more ground in finding it. While investigating, Zatanna tried to seduce Clark only to discover his feelings for Lois were stronger than her magic. Clark returned to the Daily Planet and found Oliver and Lois speaking in supposedly intimate tones. As Oliver left, he warned Clark that Lois was angry. However, Lois seemed the opposite and claimed that she was not one to get jealous over someone like Zatanna. Clark admitted to Lois that Zatanna kissed him. Lois was not surprised, as she could tell by his inability to make eye contact. Lois then proceeded to even the playing field by kissing a random passer-by. Thrown off but still intent on making it up to Lois, Clark offered to take her to the after-Con Costume ball. Lois accepted both the tickets and the apology on the condition that she could pick his costume.

Keeping secrets adds spice.

The next day at the Planet, Lois was working on her story when she got a text message on her Checkmate comm device from Amanda Waller, but Lois was forced to hide the device when Clark came in. She tried to distract him by suggesting they take a break from work and go for a romantic dinner to which Clark easily agreed. However, Faora arrived and Clark explained that Faora was his lead on a current "story."

Lois ended up going to the restaurant where she wanted to meet with Clark. As she sat, surrounded by signs of romance everywhere, a man named Dr. Chisholm approached and told her that he had a story for her, surrounding a conspiracy of aliens living among humans. However she feared that he was insane and had attempted to inform the police. Before she could say anything, Chisholm kidnapped Lois to be "drafted into war." Lois tried to save Vala, a Kandorian, with help from Zod, but Chisholm stopped them. As the Blur, Clark rescued Lois, Vala and Zod. Back at the Planet, Lois filled Clark in on her in story while also trying to learn the test result from the blood sample she had obtained at Chisholm lab contained in a box. Clark was very curious about the contents in the mysterious box. Lois made a deal with Clark that if he told her his secret, she would reveal her secret. Suddenly they both received text messages: Clark's was from Zod and Lois's was from Waller. Lois and Clark came to a mutual understanding that a bit of mystery added spice to their relationship and decided to keep some things to themselves, unaware of the consequences of this decision.

Escape

First attempt at romantic intimacy.

In an effort to get some much needed alone time with Lois, Clark planned a mysterious romantic getaway in an attempt to finally consummate their relationship. Uncertain of what type of location spot Clark had chosen, Lois prepared her bags for each possible case scenario. Clark arrived at the Daily Planet and informed Lois they would be staying at a Scottish place called McDougal Inn. Lois and Clark arrived at the inn during a dreadful storm, due a slight detour to see the biggest ball of yarn in the world, at Lois's behest. Unfortunately for the happy couple, they checked in later than expected and the Innkeeper gave their registered room to another couple, a couple they would later find out to be Oliver and Chloe. The innkeeper informed them that only remaining room had a dreadful water leak, which Clark was able to fix. He also managed to rapidly make the room inhabitable using his super powers.

Clark tried to make everything perfect to spend the night with Lois and he was very impressed when he saw Lois in her lingerie. As the two were preparing to spend their first intimate night in bed together, they were suddenly interrupted by a terrifying scream.

Lois and Clark went to investigate the disturbance only to discover that Oliver and Chloe were in bathrobes in the middle of the lobby. The next morning was very awkward for both couples as they discussed ending up at the same location as well as their different views on Oliver and Chloe as a couple. Unfortunately for Lois and Clark, a series of strange events unfolded that inhibited their romance. A spirit known as the Silver Banshee escaped from the underworld and in the process, possessed Chloe and Lois causing a few more awkward moments. Chloe, possessed by Silver Banshee, attempted to seduce Clark in the shower and a possessed Lois tried to kill Oliver in the woods. Thanks Chloe's help, Clark was able to return Banshee back to the underworld and Lois returned to normal with no memory of the previous events of the hour.

Back at the Talon, Lois and Clark talked about their horrible trip and Clark told her that it wasn't so bad, especially for the ball of yarn. Clark lifted Lois on the table and they passionately kissed when suddenly her cellphone started to ring. Trying to respect her privacy, Clark did not listen to the phone conversation. The person calling her turned out to be Zod, pretending to be the Blur by using his voice scrambler. Zod then proceeded to ask Lois for her help while requesting that she keep their conversations secret from everybody, including Clark.

Clark paid Lois a surprise visit, finding an unexplained cut on her body which she could not account for, followed by her stating that she could not remember how she got into bed with the clothes she was wearing the night before. Clark and Lois leaned in for a kiss, which was interrupted when her phone went off, convincing Clark that Lois was hiding something from him. As Lois tried to distract him from asking more questions, Zod, continuing to pose as the Blur, called.

After Clark discovered that Lois had been secretly working for the Blur, their relationship was tested by none other than his own alter-ego. Lois assumed that Clark was just jealous of the relationship she had with The Blur, severely straining their relationship. The new editor of the Daily Planet, Franklin Stern, had also issued a friendly challenge that threatened both of their jobs. The couple attempted to save their careers by doing an expose on the recently early release of former D.A. Ray Sacks. After causing an embarrassing scene at the welcome back party for Sacks that landed on the front page of Metropolis Inquisitor newspaper, Stern fired the couple from the Planet. Lois was then kidnapped by Maxwell Lord, who intended on uncovering the true identity of the Blur by exploring her mind, but she subconsciously fought his powers.

In order to protect her, Clark called Lois as the Blur and ended their relationship in an emotional phone call, telling her that any future calls would only be from an impostor.

As Clark, he met her on the rooftop of The Daily Planet for their date where he tried to be understanding to the conflicted feelings Lois was experiencing due to her break-up with The Blur. Clark questioned if he would be enough to fill her void, now that the "Blur" was gone, but she didn't answer, leaving their relationship's future in question.

Clark tried to focus all his attention in finding Jor-El's Book of Rao in hopes of finding a solution to preventing Zod and his army from ruling Earth. Unfortunately, Lois was fully determined to find a way in getting her and Clark's jobs back at The Daily Planet. Believing that her job as a reporter gave her purpose Lois tried to enlist Clark's help, only to find he was more preoccupied with a mysterious quest of his own. Stressed by their conflicting goals and Clark's dishonesty, Lois suggested that they take a break from their relationship. At that moment, Martha Kent returned to the Kent Farm for a surprise visit with her boyfriend Perry White. During their stay, Lois and Clark tried to pretend that their relationship as a couple was not in turmoil to please Martha. During an awkward dinner, Lois decided to end her relationship with Clark. A heartbroken Clark talked with his mother about his current problem and Martha assisted Clark in getting the Book of Rao. Lois teamed up with Perry White on a story involving the Kandorians' own quest to obtain the Book and thanks to Perry, Lois and Clark were reinstated as employees at The Daily Planet.

An emotional confrontation.

After making the decision to use the Book of Rao to transport all Kryptonians to a different plane of existence, Clark decided to be completely honest to Lois about the true feelings that he deeply had for her. Unbeknownst to him, Zod met with her earlier on, revealing himself as the Blur in an effort to get Lois to have misgivings about Clark as she investigated further into Clark's activities and for her to retrieve the Book of Rao for him. Lois, feeling sentimental about Clark, began looking through a trunk in his loft. Prior to Clark's arrival, Lois discovered Dr. Swann's journal and saw an image of the Book of Rao, unnerving her and making her come to conclusion that Clark knew more about the Kandorians than he was letting on.

When Clark arrived, meaning to reveal his feelings and possibly his secret to Lois, she mentioned that Perry White offered her a job in Africa and that she would turn it down for Clark. Clark, taken back by this and knowing his intentions to leave with the other Kryptonians, decided to keep his secrets although Lois, desperate for the truth, claimed that they needed to be honest with one other. Clark denied multiple times that he was hiding anything from her and encouraged Lois to take the job. She then responded by saying that she would stay for him, showing that as important as her career was to her, she'd give up Africa to be with him. A clearly distraught Lois left after a last embrace, with Clark unaware that Lois had used this time to take the Book of Rao from him.

While in Egypt, Lois encountered Carter Hall, whom Clark had sent to keep a watchful eye on her for him. Carter realized that Lois had discovered Clark's super powers. Lois explained her reasons for leaving in the first place, believing herself to be a hindrance to Clark from fulfilling his destiny, but Carter could see that in order for Clark to reach his full potential he'd need Lois by his side and encouraged her to return to Metropolis. Meanwhile, back in Metropolis, Clark struggled with Lois' absence when the newest recruit to the Planet, Cat Grant, was assigned as his new partner. Clark was set to go to Egypt to get Lois back until he realized that if he truly loved her, he'd let her go and she'd come back of her own free will.

Lois returned to Metropolis just as a possessed Gordon Godfrey began publicly speaking out against the Blur and vigilantes. She and Clark were upset about this and she comforted Clark about the hurtful things Godfrey was saying. In addition, she also apologized for the note that she left him and he accepted her apology just before he tried to save her from a falling billboard. However, Kara returned and caught the billboard. Lois was concerned about Kara's public display of powers, due to her connection to Clark and Godfrey's followers growing animosity towards heroes.

Lois went to extremes to discredit Godfrey by photographing him in a bondage club, which Clark disapproved of, but Lois reasoned that the vigilantes were vital, which comforted Clark. Lois said that the Blur was different than all of the other vigilantes, believing that he'd work out his fears and be there for her before leaving Clark to ponder their conversation.

Lois, seeing that Clark was upset, tried cheering him, encouraging him to

She asked Clark if Lana was coming to the dance and he said that she wasn't, which put Lois' mind at rest. Lois could see that the memories were hard for Clark and apologized for bringing him there.

When Lois asked Clark what was wrong, he said he was from a different time. Lois misinterpreted this and revealed that she knew he was the Last Son of Krypton. Lois and Clark share a passionate kiss after he reveals he is the Blur.

After admitting their love, there was initially an uncomfortable tension between the two of them as Lois tried to prepare herself to reveal to Clark that she was fully aware of his identity as the Blur, yet it didn't change the fact that she was madly in love with him. However, at the same time, Clark was planning to admit the truth about his dual identity. At the Planet, Lois set up a way to address it to Clark, but with the return of Cat Grant and Lois' possession by the ancient Egyptian goddess known as Isis, her plans were temporarily delayed. After the ordeal, Clark and Lois discussed the Blur and she wondered if the Blur would ever tell her who he was. Clark seemed to hesitate and as Lois walked away in disappointment, he decided to reveal to Lois his secret as the Blur, to which she was greatly overjoyed. She tackled him into a stack of papers and initiated a kiss. Ecstatic, she asked him what took him so long, shocking Clark with the revelation that she was already aware of his dual identity.

Clark purposely assigned Lois and himself to cover a low profiled event that was outside the city of Metropolis, in an attempt to keep Lois safe from the vigilante protest that was taking place later that night. During their drive, Lois learned of Clark's Kryptonian heritage and discovered certain previous unexplained events that were Kryptonian-related. She eventually learned Clark's real motives for taking this assignment and wasn't too thrilled that Clark was worried about her safety. During their drive, their car suddenly received a flat tire, causing them to veer off the road in the middle of nowhere. Clark used his strength to remove the flat tire, impressing Lois. As he was doing this, a girl named Charlotte offered her lemonade. Clark was ready to leave with Lois to get a spare tire from a gas station, but Lois decided to teach Clark a lesson to not be so overprotective of her. Clark trusted her and agreed to Lois's terms. He headed out on his own, leaving Lois behind in the care of Charlotte.

Clark told her that the radiation effects of blue kryptonite that was projecting from the villagers' bodies due to the exposure from their water supply was suppressing his powers from functioning properly. Upon learning this information, Lois revealed that she was the one who'd pulled out the blue kryptonite knife after his fall. They then managed to almost escape, but Lois' nail polish gave them away. She was horrified when Clark was fatally slashed in the chest, but when he was buried, he healed and was able to regain his abilities. Just as she was about to be burned alive, he shielded her body and received a dire burn from the blue kryptonite fire. When he healed, Lois was able to intimidate the villagers and Clark sped away with her in his arms, stunning the villagers.

Lois and Clark are caught in intimacy by Lois' father and sister.

During a "Thanksgiving holiday," Lois and Clark came downstairs together, exhilarated and in high spirits, to the Kent kitchen with Lois wearing Clark's football jersey, suggesting that they had just spent the previous night consummating their relationship. Clark poured himself and Lois a glass of orange juice while Lois ate a strawberry with intense passion in her eyes. Clark suggested he make breakfast for her but Lois appeared to have an appetite not for food, but for Clark, suggesting they go out to the porch swing for a second round. Lois was about to open the front door when Clark sped to her and they ended up in a passionate embrace. However, this was embarrassingly and unexpectedly interrupted by the arrival of General Sam Lane and Lucy, who paid an unexpected visit to Lois and Clark, ambushing them at the Kent Farm to spend "Thanksgiving."

Lois told Clark that she was nervous about her family, despite Clark's reassuring her that he wanted to spend time with her and to calm down. However, he was taken by surprise when she said that the General despised vigilantes and would interrogate him. While her father was watching a football game, there was a fire at a refinery back in Smallville and Lois informed Clark about this and he put out the fire, using the excuse that he'd gone upstairs. When Clark came back with cranberries, the General became suspicious, prompting Lois to tell him that Clark was checking the chimney to explain the ash. Lucy ambushed Clark in the loft, kissing

him in an attempt to ruin her sister's relationship with him. Lois walked in on this and he told her that she took him by surprise.

After this, she heard a ruckus in the barn and saw that it was Clark chopping wood with his hand. She told him to be careful, given her father's hatred of superheroes. He apologized for the incident with Lucy and she said that it wasn't his fault, but wanted to know how he could take out a burning building and not a "twenty-something girl." Clark said that Lucy surprised him, but that he was also shocked by the fact that Lois did not stand up to her father, to which she said that she was trying to get through the holiday without fighting. She said that she didn't agree with the Vigilante Registration Act, but it meant something to her father and pleaded with him not to make her choose sides. Their relationship was strained when he thought she stood up to her beliefs, but was too afraid to do so with the General. A furious Lois then informed him that he didn't have a family to deal with and had to answer to himself, while adding that if he wanted to be with her, he'd have to cope with her family before she left in tears.

Things took a turn for the worse during Clark's interrogation. The General had pictures of him with Kara,

Lois was in the kitchen finishing dinner when Clark entered. She said she had been keeping everything together all day and all Clark had to do was deal with her family for one day. Clark informed her that her father had him investigated by the Pentagon and that Lucy

planted photos of him with Kara in the loft. Lucy and the General then came downstairs and he ordered Lois to join them. She begged him to stay and work out their issues, but he said that Clark was a dishonest man with dangerous friends. Clark watched hopelessly as Lois left with her father and sister. In the Talon, Lois continuously tried to talk her father into going back to the farm to talk to Clark. The General denied this, saying that he was going to make a phone call to see what Clark was hiding. Lois said that it didn't matter because she loved Clark and everything that the General needed to know was in front of him. Lois then tearfully said that if he loved her, he would respect her decision to stay with Clark. Lucy then suggested that she and the General leave.

Unfortunately, when Lois was abandoned in the Talon, the Suicide Squad fired a missile with her location as the target, attempting to kill the General. Clark subsequently saved her life. Once the General saw that the Blur saved Lois' life, he had more respect for him and told Clark that in the barn before dinner. The General approved of Lois' and Clark's relationship because he could see that Lois truly did love Clark. The General also alluded to the suspicion that Clark was the Blur but never went farther than that. Clark then asked Sam a question regarding his relationship with Lois, heavily implying he requested her father's blessing to marry her, before celebrating Thanksgiving with the Lanes.

After the destruction of the Talon, Lois was in Clark's kitchen late at night where she found a box on the table full of her mother's things that her father had dropped off before he left. Clark came down and teased her about not admitting that she moved in. He asked her what was in the box and she discovered old video tapes of her mother that she'd made before succumbing to cancer. Lois was afraid to watch them, terrified of her mother being angry with Lois for not coming to see her in the hospital. She asked if he felt bad about Jor-El disowning him as his son, Clark replying that he was not really his father. Lois was somewhat shocked, while Clark was torn between staying with Lois to help her deal with the problem and his patrol as the Blur, but after strained reassurance from Lois, he left her so she could sort out the tapes.

Her mother told her, on the recorded messages, that she did not want Lois at the hospital because she didn't want to see her so brought down in her illness and so weak. Her messages strengthened Lois' heart and she then resolved to help Clark deal with Jor-El. She searched the barn to look for some way to find the fortress and found the book where Clark used to keep the key, the maps to the Kawatche Caves and after digging further she unearthed the Key itself. She then set out for the fortress, intending to help Clark with his turbulent relationship with Jor-El.

When she arrived, she pleaded with Jor-El to reach out to Clark. She reminded him how wonderful Clark was but was concerned that while he might know Lois loved him, he'd never be able to fully hear it with the ghost of Jor-El's disappointment in him looming over his head. When Jor-El remained silent, Lois was furious and said that Clark was more Kryptonian than he and better off without him. Suddenly, Jor-El lifted her up off the ground and bathed her in blue energy.

After helping Tess deal with Granny Goodness, Clark returned home to find Lois and the key gone. He headed

to the fortress and was shocked to find Lois in what he perceived to be trouble. He warned Jor-El that if he hurt Lois, he would have failed all of Clark's expectations of him and after a moment, he forcefully removed Lois from Jor-El's hold. Lois explained to Clark why she was there and begged Jor-El one last time to speak to Clark and pleaded Clark one last time to hear him out. After a few moments of silence, the Fortress lit up and Jor-El and Lara appeared in the center of the fortress with a message for Clark. It became clear that it was a message they'd prerecorded mere moments before Krypton's destruction and Clark's departure. They told him that they had sent him away to save him from not only Krypton's destruction but their own personal failures. Lara and Jor-El informed him that he was made up of the best of the both of them and Jor-El assured him that whatever trials he might have put him through, he was confident that Clark would become Earth's greatest champion and that they'd never lose faith in him or stop loving him. This message raised Clark's spirits, as he knew that his father still loved him despite everything they'd been through.

Back at the farm, Clark thanked Lois for making that trip for him and helping him to deal with Jor-El. He explained to her that he had a better understanding of Jor-El's actions and motivations. Lois put the glass blue bird belonging to her mother in the window of the kitchen and handed Clark her tooth brush, as well as confirming she'd officially moved in now. As she put the box in the closet, she found a card from her mother that read "For your wedding day" on the front. Clark asked her if she'd let him take her to the Ace of Clubs for power ballad night. Lois was cheerful, saying she wanted to get there before all the Whitesnake was gone. Lois called from the front porch for him to hurry, saying that it was going to start soon. Clark replied "sooner than you think," and pulled a small box out of his pocket and opened it to reveal a diamond ring, to which he smiled.

For a few weeks since the Vigilante Registration Act came into existence, Clark had been M.I.A. from Metropolis, secretly meeting with his cousin Kara around the globe. Upon returning to Metropolis, Clark dropped off a gift on Lois desk. Lois had been busy herself trying to uncover as much information about the real agenda government had planned for any applicant heroes who sign up. She was delighted to see Clark's gift on her desk, but also expressed that she missed him. When Oliver visited her at the bullpen at the Daily Planet to tell her that he was going to sign the bill, Lois was distressed to hear this and frustrated when Oliver revealed to her that the only reason he was doing this was to protect Clark, who was originally considering to sign up. Lois was shocked because Clark hadn't even told her that he'd been considering this, yet he'd confided in Oliver and everyone else involved just as she'd thought they'd started having an honest relationship. Oliver tried to reassure Lois that Clark was merely looking out for her safety and that the Earth needed her.

Clark was meanwhile in Miami, Florida with Arthur Curry and his wife Mera, where he shockingly discovered

heroes. Lois met with Col. Slade Wilson and her meeting uncovered what the government had planned for any heroes who sign up. When Oliver did so, Lois desperately tried to find Clark by interrogating Emil Hamilton for his current location. After Hamilton informed her that Clark was in Florida, Lois journeyed to the Miami Atlantic Aquarium where she encountered Mera, Arthur's wife, where they discussed their current relationships. When they learned that Arthur and Oliver were abducted, Lois managed to retrieve their whereabouts. After they were rescued, she and Clark talked about Arthur's relationship with Mera, saying that they were together in the fight against the VRA and the darkness. This prompted Clark, along with Arthur's questioning if he could handle her involvement in his heroic life, to bring her to Watchtower, thus joining the team and he told the team of the darkness.

Clois luthor

Lois is hostile towards Clark after hitting him with her car.

Clark accidentally made the mistake of activating the mirror box, which transported him to Earth-2, where his history was altered by a darker origin, in which he was raised as a Luthor.

As he was wandering through Metropolis, Lois bumped into him with his car and was hostile towards him. He was shocked by her attitude, as well as her engagement to Oliver. After some time, he discovered that Oliver apparently had the box and "abducted" Lois as leverage. She refused to cooperate and he apologized for his actions. Kent tried to convince her that he was from Earth-1, saying that she frequently misspelled words and was brave and loyal, as well as confessing that he couldn't live in a world where she didn't love him. This finally convinced her that he was telling the truth and he departed. When Kent returned, he was stunned to find Lois, Oliver, as well as Tess aiming kryptonite-powered weapons at him in a somewhat destroyed Watchtower. He attempted to tell them that it was him, but when they didn't listen, he turned to Lois and requested that she tell them. This prompted her to lower her weapon and rush over to him. She was relieved when she discovered that it was him and they embraced. At the hospital, Kent apologized to Lois for what Luthor did to her and gave her flowers, both of which she accepted.

attempted to change plans due to the newly issued curfew the VRA made, as if they stayed out any later, they'd go after Clark. He then faked having to rescue someone and called the phone booth. Lois answered and was showered in rose petals. Clark

manifested in front of her and got down on one knee and proposed her hand in marriage. Thrilled by this new milestone in their relationship, Lois accepted and they shared a passionate kiss.

The following day, Tess hosted a surprise engagement party at Watchtower, where all of Clark and Lois' friends congratulated them on their engagement. Their happiness was short-lived when Lois, Emil, Tess, and Cat were interrogated by the military after Oliver was attacked when he tried to save a girl from a mugging. Lois remained defiant and later escaped with use of Tess' secret passage in her office. She headed to Slade's office to investigate, only to cross paths with him. He demanded to know where Clark was, but she didn't cooperate. Just as he was about to kill her, Carter saved her, but sacrificed himself in the process. His wings aflame, he prevented Lois from falling to her death, but he suffered the impact of the fall while attempting to protect her. Clark arrived, relieved to find Lois unharmed and upset when he saw that Carter was dying.

Carter told Clark to hold onto Lois, as he couldn't do what he needed to do with an emptiness in his heart, before he died. A devastated Clark and Lois attended his burial with the rest of the League, during which they were all struck unconscious by a mysterious pyramid-like object that rose out of the sand.

Clark and Lois are reunited.

Following these events, Lois was desperate to find Clark. He later showed up at the Kent house, much to Lois' relief. They shared an emotional reunion and Clark informed her that the VRA had been waiting for them at Carter's funeral. Lois then asked him if he was okay and he said he was fine, but not before he purposely cut himself—revealing he'd lost his powers.

She was stunned by this revelation and panicked when Clark had a sudden flash of Chloe supposedly experimenting on him. Later, they met Chloe on the Daily Planet rooftop, where she told them that everything they saw was in a virtual reality while the government was experimenting on them and the flashes he had were actually of her hooking him back up to the virtual reality after he flat lined when she tried to disconnect him. Chloe was unable to gain Clark's trust and she jumped off the building with Oliver, thus bringing him back to the real world.

Lois and Clark later got into an argument about Chloe's disappearance and Lois was able to get through to him. Just as they were about to make the leap, Chloe's avatar was hijacked and tried to prevent them from leaving. However, Lois declared her belief in Clark and he was able to take flight. They shared a romantic flight before returning to reality.

Lois tells Clark that she believes he can achieve the impossible.

At the farm, after Lois asked Chloe to be the Maid of Honor at her wedding, she met Clark in the loft and confessed that while their flight was amazing, she knew that he could achieve the impossible. They shared a tender kiss and Clark hoped that they would fly in the real world, to which Lois promised that they would.

Lois and Chloe show Clark videos of the hero supporters.

Lois informed Clark that Martha was trying to sway the public opinion of the citizens of Metropolis to fight the Vigilante Registration Act and they watched on live television as she cheered on the heroes. However, events took an unfortunate and shocking turn when she was shot, but she survived the assault. Clark was still worried about the votes, so Lois and Chloe showed him a few videos from hero supporters who refused to give in to the hatred and were willing to stand show their support for The Blur, showing him that he'd been so preoccupied coping with those who detested heroes that he had been blinded from seeing those who resisted. Clark was filled with joy when he was declared an "American hero" by Lois. They later re-opened the Watchtower. At the farm, the results of the vote were revealed and Martha, Clark, Lois, Chloe and Oliver were overjoyed when the VRA was repealed by a nationwide vote.

Kentkiss

Lois's affectionate approval over the new look of Clark Kent.

Lois planned her upcoming wedding with the usage of a miniature model at the Daily Planet while also communicating with Clark over her Bluetooth while he was in London. She was shocked when she found a video-feed of Clark, in his Blur form standing on the edge of Clock tower in England with some minor visual distortion features of his face seen even though he was standing in the shadows. Lois suggested to Clark to take into consideration the thought of creating a new disguise. Initially, she attempted to improve his Blur costume, with a hood and shades that resembling the look of Impulse but Clark disapproved, refusing to hide behind a mask. Clark presented to her a pair of glasses and decided to wear them in an attempt conceal his identity as a superhero. Lois felt this could work but only if Clark would acted differently when he wore them, thereby creating two separate identities and approved when Clark successfully pulled off his new "personality" when Jeff bumped into him.

Lois and Clark have a toast

Clark and Lois celebrated their engagement with Tess, Chloe and Emil and after toasting, they blacked out. When Clark came to, he discovered a text from Lois claiming she "needed more time." This upset him a great deal, making him believe Lois was reconsidering marrying him. Later on, Lois apologized to Clark about betting the ring and requested his forgiveness. He told her that the ring wasn't important—she was and confessed that he was worried he'd scared her away. She denied it, saying that it wasn't that. Clark understood, saying that he wanted to marry her whenever she was ready. Lois then gave Tess the video camera and everyone viewed the amusing footage during which Clark admitted Lois was the love of his life.

Lois tells Clark he'll make a great father someday.

Lois and Clark faced a new challenge in their relationship when Tess introduced Conner, a teenage boy, who was a genetic engineered clone of Lex Luthor who shared half of Clark's DNA into their care in an attempt to give Conner the chance at a normal life that was far from the evil Luthor dynasty. When Conner first encountered Lois, he was instantly attracted to her and this activated his heat vision. Lois was shocked and very concerned by Conner's origins, as well as the fact that he possessed all of Clark's abilities and the possibility some of Lex's natural instinct. Clark later admitted that, despite the Kent's positive upbringing, he always felt like a freak and that she was the only thing that made him feel human. Lois remained supportive to Clark in accepting Conner and raising him correctly much like the Kents had done. When Lois was kidnapped by Lionel of Earth-2, Conner came to her rescue. Unfortunately, under the influence of the Red kryptonite ring he was wearing, his lustful desire to be with Lois severely clouded his judgment and caused him to attack her when she, remaining faithful to Clark, denied his advances. After Clark managed to restore Conner to his normal self, Lois met him in the barn. They shared a heart-to-heart and Lois told Clark that when they raised a family of their own, he'd be a great father.

Lois meets Clark Kent once again.

Their relationship endured further complications when she ended up working late due to her promotion and Clark spending most of his time on patrol. They were both shocked to find that Martha wanted them to sell the farm and Clark Kent was sent back to Earth-2 by Clark Luthor. When Kent arrived, he was taken back to see that Oliver's funeral was taking place. Lois, now Oliver's wife, was disgusted and furious when she saw Clark and subdued him with kryptonite. He convinced her he wasn't Luthor by telling her what he did the last time and she stopped the assault. Lois warned him that everyone knew his weakness to kryptonite due to Oliver's actions and he appreciated the warning. Back in Earth-1 Clark Luthor tried to fool Lois into thinking he was Clark Kent but Lois seeing Luthor's cold attitude towards the telescope, knowing Kent had a thing for telescopes could immediately tell the difference and know that Clark Luthor was back and quickly enlisted Emil Hamilton help to bring Clark Kent back. When Luthor was presumably sent back to his own universe, Lois noticed that an incident had shaken Kent. He admitted that he was holding on to things in order to protect them, but knew that they were to move to Metropolis. Lois

reassured him that they were never going to lose each other, with or without the farm. She broke the tension by saying that Smallville was her home, alluding to Clark.

Lois' fierce determination to protect Clark's identity as the Blur unexpectedly put a strain on their relationship, as they argued about making his "Clark Kent" disguise forgettable to those around him. She mentioned that the Blur had been offered the key to the city by the mayor and showed him an example of a mild-mannered teenager - reminding Clark of what he used to be during his teenage years. In addition, Lois told him that his real persona was the hero that he was and he'd have to step into the light in order to gain the city's trust. Clark then diverted her attention to her focus on him rather than the open career promotion and she informed him of her confidence that she'd get the position. When Booster Gold, the newest hero in Metropolis, arrived, he complimented Clark's glasses and this prompted Clark to talk to Lois about him and his remark.

S10ep18-0521

Lois, however, was focused on protecting his secret. Clark went to Watchtower to learn more about Booster and when Lois walked in, she assumed he was envious while he believed Booster knew when and where accidents were to happen. They decided to investigate Kord Industries and Booster. During Clark's investigation, he was surprised to see a billboard saying that the Blur was the "real Man of Steel." He met Lois at the Daily Planet, questioning her about the poster. She told him that she would not let the Blur be forgotten as Metropolis' savior and in response, he mentioned that the new vigilante was receiving the key in exchange for his services. In shock, she said that it should've been his and he should reveal himself to the Earth just as they got a phone call from Booster claiming he knew his secret. Later at the Kent farm, Lois was reading Booster's profile. Clark soon entered and told her after seeing how well Booster hid his own doubts, he believed he could make the transition of himself as a mild-mannered reporter work, but he revealed to Lois the real reason: He was concerned about adapting the placid persona to his everyday life: he wasn't afraid of people's opinions, but about their reaction to Lois being married to an easy-going reporter. She reassured him that they'd make it work out and passionately kissed him leading them to have sex on the couch.

S10e19-993

Lois and Clark's reunion.

Lois and Clark moved to Metropolis and while they were unpacking, Clark suggested super-speeding to finish up faster. Amused, Lois said that a part of starting their lives was slowly exploring every part. After they learned from Tess that Slade had escaped the Phantom Zone, Clark went in to get answers and was followed by Oliver. They later lost contact with Watchtower, worrying Lois. She eventually discovered Clark and Tess' plan to destroy the crystal from the Fortress' console and was distraught because they hadn't told her. Later, when they returned, Clark and Lois shared an emotional reunion. She confronted him about his plan with Tess and he apologized, claiming he was protecting her. This didn't reassure her and she admitted that she'd rather be with him in the Zone than be fearful of his safety. Clark was relieved that, during the weeks of his absence, Lois had not postponed their marriage and said that nothing could prevent him from marrying her and he was ecstatic to learn that their wedding was in two days.

A day before their wedding, Clark informed Lois that, although he had told her father about their marriage, he

had not yet to tell Jor-El. They headed to the Fortress and Clark told his father that he wished to start a "life bond" with Lois. In return, Jor-El seemingly harmed Lois. A terrified Clark rushed to her aid, only to find that he was powerless and she had obtained Kryptonian powers. Lois was ecstatic, using her superspeed all the time, but Clark was worried about his father's motives for his actions. Later, when a store was closing earlier than expected, Clark instructed Lois to use her superhearing: she was upset to learn that, every day, he was forced to ignore every cry for help. She soon heard a fight and stopped it. When she unmasked the attacker, she was startled to find that it was Courtney Whitmore. In pure recklessness, she confronted Winslow Schott and he managed to manipulate her into putting on a mind control device when he threatened Clark's safety. He ordered her to kill the Blur once she was under his control. She proceeded to attack Clark and he was horrified to discover she was mind-controlled. Clark stalled her by declaring his love and once it was sunset, he managed to subdue her without harming her and got rid of the device, much to his and Lois' relief. That night, a heartbroken Lois tearfully tried to end her engagement to Clark after seeing how difficult it was for him to monitor everybody. An upset Clark consolingly embraced her, unwilling to give up on their marriage.

They eventually figured out that Tess' kidnapper was Lionel and the last location was the now destroyed Luthor mansion. Before he departed, they shared a passionate kiss and reaffirmed their love. Lois was aboard Air Force One when it hit turbulence. It was about to crash when Clark, now able to fly, appeared fully in his Superman suit, saving it before preventing Apokolips from crashing into the planet.

Lois discourages Clark from revealing he's an alien.

Lois counters that with all of the concern brought on by the pictures of the aliens on Apokolips, it might not be the best time, especially with Lex Luthor making such noise about it in public.

Later the same morning at Watchtower, Lois comes by with coffee and asks wha`t has Chloe so stressed. She explains that she's trying to find out just what was the energy ribbon - or "rift," as she refers to it - that Clark saw in space. When Lois refers to her "forever-fiancé", Chloe apologizes for her Oliver being married while Clark and Lois have yet to be. Lois assures her that they will get married when the time is right, when the Earth is in less danger, Clark isn't trying to save it and Lois isn't busy reporting on the danger and Clark's saving the day.

Having changed, Clark shows up and whispers to Lois that they both know Lex killed Tess but don't have any proof yet to confront him about it. Having addressed Lois' questions, Lex continues with the conference. Lex announces that in two days LexCorp will launch into orbit the first of the Guardian defense platforms. The press and public are impressed, save for Lois. She asks Lex where he will able to find a pilot for the shuttle to deliver the platform on such short notice and as a respond Lex introduces Commander Hank Henshaw.

When he answers she argues and ridicules his decision of attempting arresting Superman, but General Lane claims to just be following orders. She calls Clark and he ask her if Sam knows his secret, saying he implied it before, but Lois claims if he did he probably wouldn't have fired at him. As the military surround Superman they begin firing, Lois seeks cover under her convertible below. The bullets deflect off of him and hit the tail rotor of one of the helicopters, which begins to fall. Superman flies in and saves Lois before the helicopter crashes onto her car and explodes. Three weeks later, Clark and Lois are finally able to spend some time together by having a romantic evening at the Fortress, with the aid of Oliver's satellites blocking Lex's frequency and the Fortress' ability to shield his radiographic signature. Clark is able to enjoy an evening of pleasure with Lois while also working on finding a way to remove the isotope trail from his body.

The following Morning, Clark returns Lois back to Metropolis where he drops her off inside the Daily Planet bullpen basement. Lois arrives to see the bullpen practically empty with the exception of Jeff Hage who is sitting at Clark's desk admiring a photo of  Lois and Clark. Lois suggest that perhaps they should look into other stories to write but Jeff reminds her that Superman is big news and most of her front page headliners feature "The Man Of Steel". Jeff also inquires to Lois about the whereabouts of Clark to which Lois simply replies that he's keeping himself busy.

After an incident as Stryker's Island Penitentiary involving Bruno Mannheim, Bruce Wayne Barbara Gordon, Superman and Green Arrow, Superman goes to the Daily Planet, in order to get Lois's help. Superman helps Lois find him in the sky by sparking his heat vision. After the talk over what he did to Mannheim, Lois confirms Joe Chill is in FBI custody.

Meanwhile at Joe Chill's FBI Hideout in Suicide Slums Superman and Batman fight The Prankster and Mr.Freeze but ultimately leads to Joe dying and Superman dying as a result of the Prankster's Kryptonite bullets. The Media however reports a the pursuit of the "murderer Batman kidnapping a wounded Superman". The FBI comes in to arrest Batman. Batman escapes with Superman within the Batmobile. Then Daily Planet reporter Lois joins the police and the FBI in the pursuit chase. Lois and Ollie meet up (wondering where Batman is taking Superman) and Chloe is hacking into the traffic system so no one is hurt during the chase.

Superman tells Batman to call him Clark and Batman, relieved that Clark is still alive, asks him who to call to save him. Nightwing calls Chloe, who in turn calls a choked up Lois: Nightwing gives her the situation: Superman has four Kryptonite bullets, none to the heart, but his vitals are fading. Nightwing, later, gives Batman Lois' message: get the Kryptonite out and then expose Superman to yellow sunlight. But as Batman says, he's already has his hands full. Batman performs the surgery inside the car, just as Lois arrives and she sees it happening. After getting the bullets out, Batman reprograms his vest and splash Clark with yellow sunlight, just as the police report that they lost the Batman.

Clark and Lois spending time together on the Daily Planet rooftop.

Clark and Lois meet on the roof of the Daily Planet Building for a bite to eat and further lament that he can't return to his "normal" life as a mild-mannered reporter. She mentions that he has burned through all of his sick days and vacation time and that their boss, Franklin Stern, is getting suspicious about his absence. Joking about having to tell him Clark's become a fireman or something else, Clark admits that he's devoted his life to bigger things now.

Regarding one of those things, Lois shows Clark pictures of the LexCorp employee, Fritz, who was thrown into a wall and superspeed aged to death. She shows him pictures of other incidents of it occurring over the past five years. She says that these "speed storms" have popped up in Keystone City, Mexico, Miami and islands in the Pacific Ocean, as well as have been increasing in frequency. Lois is shocked when she learns that the Monitors are actually going to consider Lex's offer. The Monitors then recognize Superman as the person who killed Ray-Lan, so they decide to sentence both of them to death so they won't be able to interfere again in their plans. They intend to kill Superman and Lois by jettisoning them into the Bleed, as no one can survive it, not even the Monitors. Eventually Lois does conceive. Clark and her are blessed with a child of the own whom they named "Jonathan "Samuel" Kent in honor of his paternal adoptive grandfather, Jonathan Kent (deceased), and his middle name comes from his maternal grandfather, Sam Lane. While Jon resemble Clark, his personality is very much that of his mother Lois' spitfire attitude and inquisitiveness. Jon is half Kryptonian/Human and as he continues to grow so does his powers and abilities, he has taken on the family business under the guide of "Superboy".

In the Superman feature films, Clark and Lois worked together and Lois likes Clark as a friend, but is in love with Superman. She later extends her feelings to Clark after she discovered his true identity. However, in the storyline continued by the latest film, Superman Returns, Lois has moved on to another relationship although clearly still in love with Superman, while Clark is almost exclusively Superman, fulfilling his destiny to save the Earth. However, in this film, Lois has a son, Jason, who bears certain similarities to Clark and it is heavily implied that he is indeed Clark's son from a previous sexual encounter between Lois and Superman.

  • As of Season Ten's Harvest, Lois & Clark have hit several landmarks in their relationship as well as landmarks on the series. In the episode they call each other boyfriend and girlfriend for the first time. They also make love in the present for the first time. Quotes[]

Lois: You've just been hit by lightning, you're stark naked, and, uh, you don't even remember your own name. You have a fairly loose definition of "fine." [Naked Clark turns to face Lois] [to herself] Look at his face... [Despite her efforts, Lois' eyes lower slightly] I have a blanket in the trunk. Don't move. I'll be right back.
Clark: Wait. Who are you?
Lois: Lois. Lois Lane.
Crusade

Lois: You're amazing, Smallville. You always look for the best in people even when they walk all over you.
Clark: I guess that explains why we're friends.
Lois: Oh, we're friends now?
Clark: Well, I won’t tell anyone if you don't.
Lucy

Lois: Clark? Look, I'm not great at this, so just keep your mouth shut and listen up. Even though I was kicking butt on the helicopter, it was really nice to have backup. And you didn't have to come after me, but you always do. So I wanted to say thank you. You're a really good friend. Oh, and, uh, about the lap dance. If you decide to tell anybody about it, your Elmur Fudd night light will make a very public appearance.
Exposed

Lois: (to Lana) Look, I don't know what's going on, but I would be lucky to end up with someone as honorable as Clark some day.
Reckoning

Lois: Why can't I just meet a decent guy from a decent family who happens not to be a psychopath?
Martha: Oh, Lois. You know... when I was your age, I wasn't dating Prince Charmings either.
Lois: Really?
Martha: Yeah. I used to attract the dark, mysterious type, too, until I met Jonathan.
Lois: See, what worries me is that when my Jonathan finally does come around, I'll be looking the other way, and I'll miss him completely.
Martha: Well, you have to keep a closer watch. You know, I think we go through these bad relationships for a reason.
Lois: Well, if there's a good reason for all the pain and aggravation, I'm dying to know.
Martha: Maybe you have to get through all the wrong men so you can recognize the right one.
Fade

Lois: Look sometimes you gotta tuck your feelings away until it's the right time. Like stuffing dollars into a piggy bank for a bike you can't quite afford.
Clark: Except, I can't quite imagine there is anyone else out there.
Lois: Well, you never know, Clark. Maybe when you finally crack open that piggy bank you'll find that all this time you haven't been saving for a bike, you've really been saving for a Harley.
Clark: ...You know, there are times when I think you don't know me at all, and others where I think you know me better than anyone.
Lois: That's what I'm here for, Smallville – one save at a time.
Oracle

Oliver: (to Clark about Lois) If I lived under the same roof with such a beautiful woman, I probably would've masked my feelings in sarcasm, too.
Arrow

Lois: Well, he [Clark] was holding me in his arms. And Ollie's a good kisser, don't get me wrong, but that Green Arrow [Clark], he could teach Ollie a thing or two.
Hydro

Jimmy: Lois was all alone, and... then it hit me. Lois and Clark.
Chloe: Lois and Clark?
Jimmy: You gotta admit, they got chemistry.
Chloe: So do nitro glycerin and peroxide and I don't suggest putting them together.
Crimson

Bizarro: (to Lois about her, referring to Clark) Man, how can a guy miss what's been right in front of him all this time?
Bizarro

Lois: (to Clark) Why settle for hot, rich, and famous when I can hang out with you?
Siren

Lois: Smallville, you were there for me when I needed a shoulder to cry on, and I am blowing this big-time. Look, I-I just wish I could make everything all right.
Clark: You're a good friend, Lois.
Apocalypse

Lois: Who? Smallville? Look I don't know who or what you are, but you've got it all wrong, lady. There is nothing romantic between Lois and Clark.
Maxima: You have a deep connection to him; I felt it.
Lois: Then your radar's on the fritz. ‘Cause even on a good day, we're barely friends.
Maxima: He never would have been able to pull away from me if he wasn't drawn by his attraction to you.
Lois: Look, he's about as attracted to me as a Red Sox fan to the Yankees.
Maxima: You may not know it yet, but believe me there's a bond. And I could see it on your face when you caught us together, you feel it, too.
Instinct

Macy: You must really care about her; storming in here. It's very gallant of you.
Lois: Yeah, he's stupid that way.
Committed

Macy: Deep down, underneath it all, do you love this man?
Clark: Just answer the question, Lois. Don't over think it. Just tell the truth.
Macy: Do you love him? (Lois begins to shake and breathe sharply)
Clark: Lois, just tell the truth.
Macy: Do you love him?
Lois: [begins to cry] Yes...
Committed

Lois: I thought, just for minute, that someone needed me.
Oliver: Oh I'm sure he needs you Lois.
Lois: That's sweet of you to say, but how do you know?
Oliver: Because I know Clark.
Bride

Lois: How can someone with X-ray vision be so blind? I've been down the hero road before. And every time, I made a giant u-turn. But this... this was different.
Clark: And this time, it will be different, Lois. When I do this, no one's gonna remember who I am.
Lois: And when you hit your reset button... you're not gonna tell me your secret, are you?
Clark: I'm sorry.
Lois: That's okay. Why should I think I'm special? Clark... I understand.
Clark: Lois, you don't understand. It's because you are special.
Infamous

Lois: But I do remember seeing a whole new side of Clark Kent.
Clark: Which side was that?
Lois: I'll give you a hint. It starts with "H" and ends with "ero."
Rabid

Lois: The truth is... we could all die tomorrow.
Clark: Lois, I died when you left.
Lois: I'm here now. (they kiss and make love)
Pandora

Clark: You can lean on me for strength. I feel stronger when you're around, anyway.
Lois: Clark, I've done this dating thing wrong so many times.
Clark: Then let's do it right. We'll take our time.
Pandora

Clark: You know, Lois, we could go back to the farm and take a walk. I could give you Clark Kent's tour of the galaxy.
Lois: Smallville, the only planet you know about is the one you read at the breakfast table.
Disciple

Clark: I promise, we'll be together. Always and...
Lois: Forever? Do you mean it?
Clark: I do.
Persuasion

Clark: (to Lois) My whole life has been full of relationships that have ended to soon. And then when I went away last fall, I... Lois, I felt so lost. When I came back to the bullpen... you were there waiting for me. You jumped out of your seat, you threw your arms around me, and the way that your eyes sparkled when you smiled, I just... I knew. I just knew that you were the one that I've always needed. And I needed you to know that.
Salvation

Clark: All my life I've been afraid, Lois. Afraid of people knowing the truth about me. Afraid of them rejecting me, and even if they didn't, still losing them. I've been afraid of everything I can't control. But when I was faced with the idea of losing you forever, it made me realize there's something I'd regret more than anything else, and that's not telling you the truth about me. 'Cause that's the only way we could share a life together. I know the odds are stacked against us and we'd be risking everything, but if you're ready to take that leap, there's no one else that I'd want to take that leap with. Lois, you've had a lot of questions about The Blur, it's me. I'm The Blur.
Lois: (jumps on Clark, kissing him) What took you so long?
Clark: (confused) What? You...
Isis

Clark: (to Lois) I want you to know me completely, with no secrets. Because you’re the One… you always will be.
Harvest

Clark: (to Same Lane about Lois) It may be your right! But you're wrong to think we don't belong together. I love your daughter, and I don't want another day to go by where I'm not with her.
Ambush

Clark: (to Earth-2 Lois after telling her is from a different universe) You can always tell when I'm lying, You can see right through me, straight to my soul...to my heart. I can't live in a world where you don't love me.
Luthor

Clark (proposing engagement to Lois): You don't make it easy to ask a simple question. But that's what makes you...you. The woman I want to spend my life with. The woman that I love. Lois Lane, will you marry me?
Lois (After a slight pause): Yes.
Icarus

Clark: (to Lois) Lois, if you're watching this 20 years from now...You are the love of my life!
Fortune

Clark: It's just sometime I forget you never saw what it was like. Growing up, being different, feeling like an outsider, a freak. Like you were all alone.
Lois: You turned out pretty normal.
Clark: Lois, you don't understand. It never goes away. It's always in there. The only thing that's ever made me feel... normal is you.
Scion

Clark: Lois, I’ve been trying to hold on to things that used to protect me. This farm, my parents. I’ve known we should be moving to Metropolis for a while now. I guess, I was afraid that I'll lose myself if I let it all go.
Lois: Clark, I would never let that happen.
Clark: I’ve been worried that, if we didn’t have this place to come home to, then we'd lose each other. This place grounds us. But maybe that was just an excuse for me not to, not to move on. It's not the place that makes the home.
Lois: Smallville is my home Clark. Not this one. This Smallville, right here. You are all I ever need. And if you need to Metropolis because that's who the world needs you to be, then a studio apartment with rusty pipes is just fine for me.
Kent

Lois: (wedding vows to Clark) I wanted these vows to be perfect, but perfection's a hard thing to get your hands on. But life is meant to be a little messy. And when it comes to love, it's like my dad always said when it comes to the army. You only sign up if it's the only thing you can ever imagine doing, and Clark I can not imagine spending a moment of my life without you, so I promise that I will always have your back as you will always have mine. You're my best friend, you're my home, you are my true love and I am yours and will be forever.
Clark: (wedding vows to Lois) I, Clark Kent, take you, Lois Lane, to be my companion, forever. With you by my side I will never be alone. Though the world sees a strong and independent woman, I've never known someone with such gentle grace and more pure heart. When I've been lost you've always been there to bring me back, so on this day, at this moment, I pledge the rest of my life to you. You've always believed in me, and I believe in you. When you believe in someone it's not for a minute, or just for now, it's forever.
