Relationship Nicknames[]
What do you think of making this a separate page?
I found it hard to learn all these names when I first started following Smallville... I know they're on each relationship page, but I had to look them up one at a time. --Kanamekun 00:34, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- OK I tried it out and the page only comes up on a search if you type "relationship" not plural, which makes me think this page's name is a little too specific for it to be useful to searchers. I think if we create a page called Relationships that redirects to the category where they are all listed, (Like Templates) it might be more useful because it would come up on a search. We have a skeleton page called Terms that I always envisioned stuff like this would go on, but that's a project no one has adopted yet. Marikology 01:17, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Feel free to rename this or to move the content somewhere else. I don't feel like this is a great name for it, but I do think the content on the page is handy! --Kanamekun 03:54, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oh I think I get the hang of what you're proposing - clever! I had considered putting the nicknames at the top of the Category:Relationships page, but wasn't sure if that was ok. What do you think if I did that, and then took the Category:Relationships link off the bottom of the nickname redirects (e.g. Lexana, Chlark, etc.). We could then implement your idea to have Relationships redirect to the category page. Also this way, the Category:Relationships page wouldn't be cluttered by the nickname pages in the heart of the page - they'd be differentiated since they'd be distinct from them, at the top of the Category page. --Kanamekun 04:06, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ok I realized we basically agreed, so I went ahead and implemented all of your suggestions. Thanks! I wish that the "Relationships" redirect didn't show up in the Category:Relationships page, but I don't know a way around that... alas. --Kanamekun 04:12, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think it's six of one, half-dozen of the other, whether they are listed in the category or at the top. The way it looks now is good with me, and they are easily searchable, so that's nice. Marikology 04:38, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Consistency[]
For the sake of consistency, I want to suggest that we make a rule for ourselves that the characters names have to be listed in the order the actors are listed in the credits. I know I'm kind of crazy about this, but it really is a big deal in the industry. The order the actors are listed in the credits is important. It is indicative of the relative importance of the character. Anyway, if we adopt this rule, the following articles should be renamed (with redirects, of course)
Clark, Lex and Lana | changed to | Clark, Lana and Lex (This relationship has a funny name to go with it. We can still refer to that in the text of the page, but I think the article title should be changed.) |
Lex and Lana | changed to | Lana and Lex (This relationship also has a funny name to go with it. We can still refer to that in the text of the page, but I think the article title should be changed.) |
Jason and Lana | changed to | Lana and Jason (or this could be removed somehow) |
Jonathan and Lionel | changed to | Lionel and Jonathan (This is up for debate since John Glover's status changed from guest star to cast member in Season Two, but I think it should be Lionel and Jonathan. If we decide not to change it we should change Lionel and Martha to Martha and Lionel to be consistent.) |
Pete and Clark | changed to | Clark and Pete |
- I'm going to refrain from action because it's my opinion that a lot of the new Relationship pages are unneccesary, and if I had my way, I'd delete a bunch of them. That said, the changes you propose can be made by any logged-in user with the "move" tab at the top of the page. However, if they create new pages, they should probably go and change the links on the pages on which they appear. If new pages are made, I'll do my best to delete or redirect old ones to prevent duplicate pages. Marikology 18:57, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
category page[]
i removed the redirect page from the category as it is not an actual page... i did so by adding a colon in front of 'Category' on the redirect page...
