From what little was revealed of the planet, Almeracian society seems to follow a strictly matriarchal class system. Females are regarded as the dominant sex within their civilization. Males have been relegated to breeding partners and soldiers while the females operate politics.
While unconfirmed, Almerac possibly resides within the same galaxy as Krypton due to the mutual awareness between the two worlds. Kryptonian males were regarded as highly desirable mates by Almeracian women, thus implying interplanetary travel and intermarriage between the races.
- Maxima – The Queen of Almerac. Maxima arrived on Earth after receiving a beacon signal emitted by the Crystal of Knowledge. As it was of Kryptonian origins, she believed it to have been sent by a suitable Kryptonian male. She traveled to Earth in search of her supposed soul mate - Kal-El.
Almeracian technology - like most other alien civilizations - is both more sophisticated and considerably different from anything on underdeveloped worlds such as Earth. Although they never matched the same level of engineering as Krypton, Almerac boasts many technological feats.
- Teleportation Bracelet - A powerful device capable of almost instantaneous interplanetary travel, this particular variant is used by the ruling family of Almerac. It operates by bending space-time, creating a wormhole between the wearer and any predetermined location into which a person may step through.
In the Comics
Almerac was a technologically advanced society that was enthralled with the cycle of constant military activity. The Almeracians were under imperial rule by the House of the Blood Royale, a product of generations of selective breeding; scions of this bloodline displayed vast psionic powers.
This war-like race first came into contact with Earth when their Empress, Maxima, was impressed with Superman after observing him in gladiatorial combat. Faced with the dilemma of her own generation's disappointing crop of prospective mates, Maxima sent out a near-perfect duplicate of herself to investigate the Kryptonian on his adopted home planet. Her servant, Sazu, did not approve of Superman and destroyed Maxima's simulacrum. Sazu's actions, however, only seemed to strengthen Lady Maxima's resolve.
When the Empress herself eventually made Earth her home, hoping to shape the Man of Steel into her consort, Almerac would come upon dark times. The first devastating event happened when Brainiac seized control of Warworld and nearly destroyed the planet. After a brief respite, Starbreaker began ripping Almerac apart, shifting it out of its orbit and feeding off the planet's death throes. The once-proud civilization of the Almeracians barely had time to recover from the tragedy before the arrival of Imperiex sealed the planet's doom.
